I’m going to a cash and carry wedding dress sale. I’m so excited, it features designers I really like. And if I don’t find anything, that’s ok, but I would be very happy to find something 🙂
Problem is, I haven’t done any dress shopping yet. I have a sense of they type of fabric I want (lace) but I don’t even know what’s out there. I do know I don’t want anything too stiff or shiny – just not my style.
I don’t know what color I would like – I am fair with blue eyes, brown hair and freckles.
I searched the boards and also did some google searches, but I can’t seem to find a resource that talks about different fabrics and colors to consider. You’d think with the amount of wedding stuff out there there’d be a site/article I could read that would help.
What did you choose for color/fabric and how did you know it was right? I figure for regular dress appointments I have the time to try on different things, but I want to have an idea before I go into this sale event.
Thanks for any help!

I have dark hair and a medium tone to my skin. I loved ivory dresses with my skin and hair tones. But honestly, you’ll never know until you try one on which you prefer. Also I thought for sure I wanted a detailed lace dress. But for me, they were uncomfortable, and while some were flattering I always seemed to have that “I like it, but….” feeling going on. Make sure to take pictures. For some reason the dress can translate 100 percent different in a photo than in the mirror.
It’s really trial and error in my opinion.
But good luck, I hope you find a really great dress! And make sure you have fun!

I knew I didn’t want satin as I knew the shine wouldn’t suit me, I’m of similar colouring to you;
I liked taffetta, though this does have a slight shine to it too. I thought I may go with a lace dress, which it did look nice but a bit plain. My dress is silk and in light ivory, it’s so dreamy. I recommend trying some on if you can to see what the fabrics are like against your skin if nothing else.
