Last night I went to the MAC counter and picked up some new colours. I bought lip gloss (Venetian) and eyeshadow colours (brule, sable). I already have espresso eyeshadow at home.
I want to have this look for a formal night on my upcoming honeymoon.
I am terrible at applying makeup. I use the same colours at home, but when I apply my shadows, I get more of a frosty look even after I blend. It sort of looks cakey. I use a long eye shadow brush (QUO- a drug store brand) instead of an eye brush. I do have two other brushes, but they are thicker and not by MAC. I have the thin brush that they used to apply the line in the espresso shade.
Are there any Youtube videos I can check out?
I don’t have a lot of experience with make up. Practice makes perfect but I rarely wear make up and don’t take the time to practice.
PS: Sorry if the photo is huge.

My youtube recommendations: check out Pixiwoo (goofyname, great tutorials), Lisa Eldridge and Goss.

Especially Goss, because his tutorials tend to be really concise. Plus he’s easy on the eyes. Lisa Eldridge has great comprehensive tutorials, though.

MAC has a youtube channel under MACcosmetics. You can also try robertjonesbeauty, he does long, detailed tutorials and he has some different bridal ones as well. Are you using a primer on your lids before applying shadow?
You can also go to your local Sephora and ask the make-up artists inside for advice. They have express walk in services for free ^_^

Go back to the MAC counter and ask them to teach you the technique they used. I did that after the last time I was there and I loved what she did with my eyes. I’m no makeup guru but she took over an hour with me teaching me some of the things they do. They are trained to teach, at least my manager friend was there, so they are very good at being patient and teaching the skills they have learned.

If you live near a MAC store, (not counter) you can buy a lesson. It’s an hour and a half long, and personalized to exactly what YOU want to learn. You also get a discount on product, as long as you buy them the same day as your lesson. The lesson costs $100.

agree with tksjewelry, go back and have them to teach you to apply this look – that’s their job afterall.
