I have many different passions. Right now I want to do makeup on the side as a part time job while I study for my Lsat. I’ve done pageant makeup but want to pursue bridal. Is it as simple and printing ouy business cards and putting them in mailboxes? I do have training and loads of supplies for hair too.

When I’ve been looking for MUA I’ve found a couple via Facebook, that could be a good starting point.

You need to make a facebook, instagram, and blog (blogger.com) and constantly post pics of your work. Doing youtube tutorials on youtube also helps. And join ModelMayhem.com
You can start getting clients by advertising on Craigslist.

Definitely get yourself all over social media–Instagram is a big one, just because it’s such a massive picture sharing site–and stay active on them. Another big thing is to make sure you have connections in the wedding industry, ESPECIALLY with wedding planners. A job where you meet a lot of brides can help as well. Start yourself at a very competitive rate and advertise on any of the trillions of websites out there made to support freelancers. If you can find a job in makeup, start that way. Sephora and a lot of department store counters don’t require anything but retail experience to get a job there.
