We are having our reception in our backyard and need to rent tables.  Is there a rule of thumb to figure out how many people we can fit? For example, how many feet of space per table is needed?  i have been looking everywhere for this info but I can't find it anywhere. Can anybody help?

No problemo - lets get started on the help...Do you know what size tables you're having?  Are you having rounds or squares or long rectangle shaped tables?

8ft long tables seat 8, I think, four on each side.

Great 60" rounds - thats what I have as well...How many people are you inviting, do you know the size of your dance floor, do you have a designated area for your band and/or DJ?  Whats the size of the entire area in which you want everything to fit?

We are putting 8 guests at 12 60" rounds  and 9 guests at 1, haahaahaa

Then we have a 16' Meyer Wells table that will seat the entire wedding party plus their guests.....

Weddingwire.com has a seating chart program that will let you add standard sized tables and set the room size and everything. I like it a lot: http://www.weddingwire.com/wedding/UserMySeating

The rental place told us they should seat 8-10 but I am wondering if that might be too tight myself.  Whitesonnet I will definitely check that out!
