Hi bees. I need your help. My townhouse has vwry old, beat up hard wood floors. They’re super dull and scratched, the finish has worn off entirely in a lot of places and a few boards are so dried out they are cracking and splintering.
I sweep and vacuum often and use a steam mop to clean every other week. I just want nice looking shiny floors! I’ve tried using moping agents and nothing seems to help. They look great while wet, but as soon as they dry it’s dull again. I don’t want to wax because I’ve heard its so hard to get out.
What do you use/recommend to get floors looking shiny and nice?

Wooden floors aren’t going to be shiny on their own. You need to either refinish them, or wax them or add SOMETHING to make them shiny.
BTW, your steam mop may actually be making your floors worse, generally you want to use the least moisture possible on wood floors.

@sofialovesmikey: You probably need a professional to restore the floors. It sounds like they need to be sanded/refinished.

Yeah, your floors need to be refinished, and then don’t use the steam mop on them. Only use a spray floor cleaner specifically for wood floors. Moisture+wood=no good.
DH used to do flooring and we had wood floors in our old apartment.
