Hmmm, i got my ring cleaned yesterday at the jeweler's (only because fiance and I were looking at wedding rings)..but prior to that yeah, it hasn't been cleaned for month or 2 or 3?..was just wondering what is your method of cleaning your ring, and what do you use???
The people at Tiffany recommended using a soft toothbrush and dish soap. I was skeptical but my ring came out really shiny afterwards
I use a disposable mascara brush and some dish soap. The bristles are small enough to get into the tiny crevices.
I bought the delicate gold cleaner from walmart & use that-I got it originally because of an opal necklace, but it works here.
Like other posters, I just use an old toothbrush and either some dish soap or windex mixed with hot water...Either one does the trick!
The jeweller recomended mr clean with water and a soft toothbrush.. I haven't tried it yet. But I need to, its been 3 months.
I use the jewelry cleaner that comes in a little red tub, and has a little soft brush as well. Works like a charm!
my coworker recommended yellow Joy dishsoap, hot water, ammonia (just a bit), and a toothbrush. Works for me! my ring literally has a little cage looking thing though so it never has looked as clean as it did when I got it. Must take back to the jeweler, but he's 1000 miles away haha.
toothbrush and dawn or windex..sometimes I do dawn first then follow with windex to shine it up even more!
I use the jewlery cleaner that comes in a red bottle..I think its called Connoiseur or something like that
I'm with hilsy85: I use the jewelry cleaner that comes in a little red tub, and has a little soft brush as well. Works like a charm!
I clean my rings at least once every few days. I'm a little OCD about cleaning in general, so I guess I'd be the same about my most expensive jewelry!
I just go to the jeweler's every couple of months. It's free and close to work.
Toothbrush and....a smidge of toothpaste. My ring comes out sparkling clean after I do this. I love it.
My problem with cleaning my rings was the tarnish on the bands that doesn't come off with just cleanser. Sparkle Bright has a product that is a tarnish remover and works MAGIC!! You should check it out....Their cleaner is great too!
I take it to the jewler's. We have a lifetime warranty on the rings that includes any cleaning or repairs.
My husband's SoniCare toothbrush works wonders! (And he doesn't use it, anyway.)
I use the red tub too - they sell it at BedBath&Beyond. I've heard windex works great too but I haven't tried it yet.
@ AmberEyes a mascara brush!! What a good idea!!
I take mine to the jeweler because it's free, but I might try the dish soap idea before my parents come to town for Thanksgiving.
Dish soap, warm water, and a toothbrush. I think the toothbrush is brand Dr. Moore's. I get them at Walmart for maybe a dollar, no more than that.
I put the water and soap in a cup, swirl it up with the toothbrush, and drop the ring in for a few minutes to loosen up the grime. Then I swirl it around, fish it out, scrub it, toss it back in, swirl it, and let it sit for a bit longer. I brush it one more time under warm running water.
I took it to the shop to get it looked at because I thought it could use a replating, and the guy that cleaned it said it looked like I hadn't had it all that long. I've had this particular ring for just over two years and wear it almost every day.
Red Tub (Connoisseur's) for me! My jeweler actually recommended it.
I use the cleaner that my jeweler gave me. It seems to work well.
FMIL works at a jewelry store (WIN) and gave me one of those little tubs of jewelry cleaner. It says on it to just drop the ring in and swirl it for a few seconds and then rinse it off, so I do that about once a week. I only use the brush when there's stuff stuck on it (okay so maybe once or twice I have failed to take it off before engaging in massive cooking and baking bonanzas.)
The RED TUB- its called connoisseurs, its an ammonia free cleaner thzt wont hurt any stones or metals. works great, you throw your jewlery in and let it sit for a bit then pull it out, use the little brush, and rinse with warm water. I am also a little OCD about keeping my ring clean so I do it every few days! i use it on all my jewelry! I like to keep my ring blingin!! ; )
the white one from kay jewelers that comes with a toothbrush thing. my ring isn't from there but a friend had some and it worked so well that i went and bought some.
wow, thanks bees=) i will definitely take up your suggestions! i'm sure my ring will be sparkling clean..thanks!!!!
LOL glad to hear from others who admit to cleaning it often! I love my ring and want it to be shiny and sparkly all the time, but I didn't know if I should clean it that often! So I try to hold back to once a week...after a couple days I'm like, "Just a few days more and you can do it again!" Haha OCD :-P
And I have the jewelry cleaner as well :)
@melissabegins - try getting yours steam cleaned at the jewelers. f that doesnt wok, you might want to have it replated. I noticed my ring (its a micropave band) was looking dingy and almost darn in between the stones and it was never as clean as when it came. I brought it to the jewlers and they replated it and it looks just like new! That could be your issue. =o)
And I use a soft toothbrush and either dish soap or kids training toothpaste - no abrasives! dishsoap works better. Never tried windex, Im gonna have to try that tonight
I'm going to have to try the dishsoap or windex. I have a jewelry claener that I bought at some home show but It's used up. I also take to a jeweler to have it steam cleaned whenever I think of it.
Conniseurs is the way to go!! You don't realize how dirty your ring WAS until you get that baby rinsed off from the red bottle. Amazing! They have started carrying it at more places now....Kohl's, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, etc...
On a regular basis i use soap on a toothbrush or a tiny bit of toothpaste. Once every few months I use a small ultrasonic jewelry cleaner that my mom gave me. Want to say she got it at Wal-Mart and it's the same brand as the red tub jewelry cleaner (costs about $15.00?). Hot soapy water with a drop of windex or amonia and 30 seconds later it sparkles. The ultrasonic gets out all the stuff a toothbrush can't get to.
my jeweler recommended using a soft bristled toothbrush and clear dish or hand soap to clean the ring.. it works like a charm!
Denture cleaner!!!!! The tiny bubbles work great to get in there and you'll never be so impressed. I have an aquamarine in a halo setting that I take to the jewelers every couple months but at home I use the denture cleaner. If I'm in a hurry, I have jewelry soap that came with a little brush. I'll use the denture cleaner when I get my E ring, too!
