Why do you need to describe it? Just bring a picture or the ring to a jeweler and have them make or find something that works.
Its probably from the art-deco time period if thats what your looking for... I have my grandmas ring from that era and it looks simialr!
@lefeymw: im also trying to find something online thats possibly has the same or similar design. Ive looked for filligree, art deco, edwardian, and victorian era rings but havent found anything that looks like my ring. i even tried searching for "scalopped rings". I'm not even exactly sure what decade my ring is from. all i know is that is was his grandmothers, she was born in '36 in Germany and came to US right after the war. it could have been made in Germany for all i know.
Definitely art-deco:) I always thought I liked the 'vintage' look but as I started looking and spoke to jewelers I learned that the detail that I actually like is best described as art-deco. Very pretty ring btw:)
