I had a phone interview last night. I think it went pretty well- kept my answers to the point, call was more of a conversation, I believe he liked my responses. The biggest thing for me was he said I’d know by Thursday about a face to face and said ‘I’ll see you soon’ over ‘I’ll talk to you soon’ at the end. Past experience tells me that means I’ll get a call back (which I really hope I get) but I could be over thinking.
I sent a thank you email when I got home and reiterated things we discussed.
Do you have any other tips for me to tell if it went particularly well?
Good God I need/want this job!

Sounds good to me! Good luck.
I had a horrible phone interview once, never got a call back. There were like 15 people interviewing me on the other end with one really horrible conference telephone. Everyone kept asking me to speak up, I couldn’t tell who I was talking to, and no one could adequately describe the job to me. It was a disaster. In the end I didn’t even want the job after that experience.

That sounds promising! Typically when I do phone interviews and I do not think it went well, I say something like, “Okay, great! If we choose to proceed with you we’ll give you a call.”

You’ll know when they call you back.

@LMD: That’s what I’ve experienced in the past. I’m really hoping it went as well as I thought.
@whoa_its_ash: I’m not that patient haha!!

@jpalm13: Phone interviews are so hard to tell whether they went well or not! I had a phone interview with a director in the US (I’m in London) when I applied for my current job and I thought it went horribly, but apparently she loved me, and I got the job!
Fingers crossed – come back and let us know what happens on Thursday!

@kellym83: Aren’t they!? I got the ‘how much do you want to make?’ and stumbled when he followed up with ‘is that before or after bonus?’ Was not expecting the position to have bonus potential.

@jpalm13: His comment sounds positive. But don’t bank on it. I was once a front-runner for a job and right before they could close the listing, they got some more experienced candidates (I had impressed them with my enthusiasm and knowledge of the field but lacked technical skills). They went with the more experienced candidate. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

I hate phone interviews that aren’t long distance. I find it so hard to read a person when you can’t see their face. It sounds promising but avoid the ‘job crush’ mentality — where you get paralyzed so you can’t apply to other jobs because all you’re thinking about is this one.
Good luck! Hopefully you’ll get some good news Thursday!

@beeintraining: I’m looking for some others to apply to. Postings seem to be trickling off. To be expected though, since the end of the year is approaching. I have a few others that I applied to and need to follow up on. Soooo much of this job is what I do now and want to keep doing so I will probably be crushed, regardless.
