I was very lucky, my tax return for this year paid for my share of the wedding! Fi didn't have to save as he already had it, some is coming from our parents and the final chunk from our joint savings which neither of us have to work on bc we put enough away to cover everything. We don't really have those distinctions at the moment but I think after the wedding we'll think about it some more in terms of investments and future plans like travel and babies. I remember seeing a similar break down once although he included funds for rainy days and splurges (they were only like 5 or 10% though).

so, just wondering, how much (in terms of a %) are you putting aside each month to go towards your wedding? how do you 'distribute' your income?
my dad has always told me that i should spend a third, save a third, and spend the other third on my mortgage.... but now with the upcoming wedding, this throws off my thirds!
so at the moment... i'm putting aside about 30% to mortgage, 20% on spending, and 20% on tuition (until jan and then i'm all done!!) and the rest i'm 'saving' i guess... saving/wedding to be more accurate. at the moment, i've got no distinction!
