I'm not a professional hairstylist, but if I were going to mimic this hairstyle I would set her hair in hot rollers- take them out and re-curl most of the pieces to give it the defined look. In the pictures the bride's curls are really noticeable throughout her whole head- it makes me think she may have naturally curly hair- if your sister's hair is straight you could use some hair wax for more definition (not too much though). Pin the remaining hair back into a loose bun, secure with some hairspray, and she should be gorgeous!
I'm not sure. My only thoughts would be to see if she wanted to get low lights in a medium-dark brown to make it look like there is more texture. Often times hair that is all one color doesn't look as textured. If that makes any sense!
*Like how you can see different shades in the picture you posted* That may help the overall appearance of the updo. Just my thoughts!
I'm not a stylist either but.......You could try taking small sections and spiral curling it with a curling iron (just curl it up the barrel) and then take those pieces and slightly twist them and pin them into a bun(chignon or whatever it's called). To me it looks like they are slightly twisted (after being curled) which gives it that seperated look. I would def do a prior trial run on her, or even on someone else, just to see if this look can be accomplised on straight hair. good luck. Hope you get some more advice!
So I really have no tips, but I have another photo (not sure if it's the same bride) of the same hairstyle but a different angle. I'll attach it. Good luck!
Luvbug is right. I just went for a hair trial and that is what my hairstylist did. She put my hair in hot rollers and then twisted them before pinning them into place. :) Highlights do a great job of showcasing the texture as well. Good luck!!
Thank you all for your comments! Peony80, do you have a pic of your hair? Do you know what hair products they used?
Here are more photos of her:

Hello! I just wanted to post a picture of my sister's hair, and even though it's not quite like the inspiration photo, my sister loved it nonetheless! after 1.5 hours, 117 bobbypins, and loads of maximum hold hairspray (the wax didn't work for us), here are the results! Thanks to everyone who contributed with comments and pictures!

Hello Hive! I want to help my sister do her hair for her wedding, but I need some tips on how to do this hairstyle. She has straigh black hair, and wants it pulled back like this bride, with pieces separated in textured curled sections.
Any hair pros out there?
