I love it when people notice it and mention it it feels awesome, but then immediately after I have no idea how to reply… I just say “oh, thanks!” and then the convo always seems dead. Do I tell them the date? Do I tell them how it happened? Should I walk away now? Should I compliment something they are wearing or have? Sigh. (lol)

@elliptical2013:  I feel pleased and happy; I’ve had some lovely compliments and it’s really nice! I often blush though lol.

I also compliment stranger’s rings; I’ve seen some lovely ones, and I will say how beautiful they are; though after someone on here said they don’t compliment other people’s rings in case they think they’re fishing for a compliment I’ve been second-guessing myself lol

I didn’t vote because really it just makes me feel awkward. Especially if the person actually takes my hand to look at it.

I love it!! Its just like them complimenting my hair or outfit. Makes me feel good. And I love to brag that DH picked it out all by himself. =] And I actually do it to other women too. I work in a womens boutique so I see a lot of AMAZING rings, and I cant help but drool over some of them lol

I love it.  People do it to me on the train all the time, and I do it to them.  There are some amazing rings in NYC!

I don’t mind it, but once I’ve said thanks I have no idea what to say next.

I compliment other women’s rings all the time at work, because I love rings and love all different styles (my favorite two rings that I’ve seen have been a claddagh ring and an emerald ring!)

I appreciate compliments, yes, but sometimes I feel awkward about general comments towards my ring. Like I’ve had people say, “Wow, that’s a huge rock!” (it’s 1.25, which I think is large, but not ~huge rock~ worthy) and I usually fumble a “thanks,” even though it doesn’t feel like a compliment. I just don’t know what else to say.

I will compliment strangers’ rings. Sometimes I just feel like I have to acknowledge the sparkly, man!

@elliptical2013:  Haha, I really do! But normally, when people are complimenting it is like “I love your purse!” and then I say “oh thanks, it was like $20 at the second hand store!” and then we can chat about purses and crap. But once a ring compliment happens it sort of hangs in the air I am rally not socially strange ( I swear) but the ring compliment has always stumped me. A lady at my bank did this two days ago, I was holding my bank card and she stopped and said “OMG your ring is stunning!” and I blushed and said “thanks!” and the she kept looking and said “so much detail! love it.” And I didn’t know the socially acceptable thing to say back other than another nice smile and a quiet “thanks”. Like does anyone say “thanks, it cost a lot.” lol!!?? I am kidding, obviously. But I find rings are such a personal statement, some bees love their moissanite for being earth friendly and affordable, do some of you say “thanks, it’s actually not a diamond either… blah blah blah?” or does everyone just say a thank you and move on?

I just say, “Oh, thanks!” I forget I even have it on anymore.

I’ve developed a weird obsession with rings ever since I got engaged.  I want to see them all!

it’s awkward! I feel like if I say “oh thanks” it’s like I’m bragging somehow. <.< I have no idea how to respond to a compliment. THE HORROR.

I like it when it is a general compliment such as ” that is really pretty/nice/beautiful” I dont like it when they go overboard “you need a wheelbarrow to carry that thing/how do you lift your arm?”
