I've sold several wedding related items and have priced them at half what I paid. I figured I had no use for them anymore so someone could get a good deal if they needed them, and I'd get back some storage space!
I've seen gowns priced all over the place. If alterations were done I think it will be a little more difficult to sell. Someone would have to be your exact measurements to be able to wear it,especially if its been taken in and fabric has been cut. That doesn't leave much room for someone else unless they have to go smaller.
Check out some of the websites that have gowns for sale, and look at the Classifieds on WB.
the alterations that were done involved no cutting. The dress was just taken out at the side seams, that's it. So it could easily be brought back in again.
Just did a search. Maybe this will give you some ideas as to what other brides are selling theirs for. Good luck!
OnceWed recommends you price them between 25-50% off retail price. Known designers (like Maggie Sottero) can generally go for more than unknowns.

So I was thinking of selling my wedding dress. I'm not sure how to price it though, or how people figure out in general what prices they should sell items at.
I wore it once on my wedding day. The hem and some of the lining underneath got pretty dirty. It could probably be cleaned up if I took the dress in for a professional cleaning.
Some of the scalloped lace around the hem ripped off from the dress (it's still attached to the dress but is now hanging off). I imagine a seamstress could attach it again.
Some beads on the bottom broke when I would accidentally step on the hem. Some sequins probably fell off too. This wouldn't be too noticeable though because the lace all over the dress has beads and sequins on it - so I don't imagine someone would really notice a few missing at the bottom.
All in all though I say the dress would be in pretty good condition once it was cleaned and some touch-ups were done around the hem.
So do you usually sell wedding dresses for half price? Or just a few hundred less than you paid? I paid over 1100, plus 200 for alterations, and then who knows how much cleaning it will cost. The dress is Phillipa by Maggie Sottero.
Any suggestions on how to figure out how much you should sell a dress for?
