I found my MUA on weddingwire (which is the same as the vendor section here). The hair girl was recommended to me by the MUA.
Not sure how to find a hairstylist but for the MAC girl, is there a local MAC store you can go to? A lot of those girls freelance.
When my friendor MUA/hair stylist had to back out, I asked the venue for recommendations. It's a small country town 2 hours from where I live so I had no idea and it's not the kind of place where businesses have their own websites. The venue coordinator could recommend two ladies who would travel to me, and were very popular choices. It worked out fine!
I just read reviews on several local wedding boards and also checked out a lot of MUA/hairstylists websites.
Thankfully it's worked out well for me, I love both of them!
i forget if you are marrying in VA or not? im looking in w'burg area for MUA - hair i have down pat i think.
I looked online for a mobile one that will come to my house. I found an award-winning, decent priced salon of 14 artists! Was very lucky!
My good friend is a MUA - that was easy. Hair was harder. I asked the bridal salon I purchased my dress from and got an awesome rec!
BTW - the people who work in salons will come to you - it usually just extra. Ask your wedding vendors to see if they know anyone.
Aren't you a wedding photog? Ask your brides who they are using.
there's a vendor section on weddgingbee now~ select the area and the category (Beauty & Health) and bam! a list of MUA/Hs! have a good look at their portfolio, and then ask around! contact a former client/bride ~ ~
Will your regular hairdresser be able to do this for you? If not, they have a network and will know who is reliable to ask. Otherwise, check the vendor reviews at projectwedding.com.
As far as makeup is concerned, ask the makeup counters at the local Dillards, Macy's, etc if anyone will freelance and come to you. Or get your makeup done at the counter there.

I've never been one for salons. Maybe twice a year I go to one, which is really nice and I'm sure would do an awesome job on my hair. HOWEVER, I prefer to have someone come to ME to do my hair.
How on earth do you find someone worthy enough and good enough to come to you? I'm at a loss how these people are found!
Also, Any tips on finding a MUA? I'd prefer a MAC girl to come to me and preferably with airbrush....
