    Crap!  I'm such a dweeb!

Here's the thing:  I met with a florist that I really liked.  I told her I'd send her the deposit ASAP, which I did.  She called and said she didn't get it, oops.  I canceled the check and told her that I'd send it out again... yesterday (USPS has no such check in the mail).  However, this morning my Mother called me and said she'd met with a different florist who seems to be able to provide the same thing, at a lower price (actually we're still waiting on the price which is annoying but my Mother's friend has used her before and raves).  Soooo, sucks that I have to somehow give the boot to the woman who thought she was making a sale.  I feel like such a... k, the word I was gonna add is bad... how about- JERK.

I blame my Mom, but I'm sure I can't say that at 26 years old... can I?  Lol.  How do I handle this?

Is there anyway to confirm the price quickly?  Did you sign anything with the other florist to say you would use her?  If it was a verbal agreement it does kind of suck but I guess that's business.  If you're set on switching just tell the other lady you've found someone who's more affordable and apologize for the inconvenience.

Yeah it was just a verbal agreement.  You're right though, still sucks.  In the end it is the cost of doing business and it'll be no biggie in like a week but the call itself is a rough one!  I can't get the price from the other florist yet but my Mother is positive that she's much less expensive as she's done other events and has always been below the curve, we'll see!  I won't do anything until I get the dollar amount.

Yeah - I mean I guess that's kind of the point of the deposit is because people do back out at the last minute and the deposit can recoup and business or any time or expenses for the set up.  So I guess until the deposit is in  . . . You have lots of time before your wedding so I wouldn't be too worried about hurting her business.  And all you can do is be honest, how she reacts to that will be her own deal.

See how much is the price difference, but if it isn't much then decide who would you rather work with, and which personality do you trust more.

Sometimes cheaper might not be a better way to go.

I would get a price quote from the 2nd florist before you tell the first one you've decided to go with someone else. Also, since you did tell the first lady you were going to book her maybe you can explain to her that your mother found someone who quoted you x amount for the same thing and give her the option to price match. If she really needs the business she'll come down in price and you won't have to feel bad about leaving her and if she doesn't agree to it at least you gave her a choice.
