I work full time as a nanny which means I am in a home and around food alllllll day. I love food. I don’t have the best relationship with food. I come from a line of serious emotional eaters and I am an emotional gal! I’m working on changing my frame of mind about food and I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions that I can remind myself to keep from eating when I’m not hungry or giving in to a craving. Now I am not the type to say that certain foods are totally off limits but I really can’t be eating cake everytime I think about it! I also know about the trick to drink water or wait a certain number of minutes to re-evaluate if you are actually hungry. What I’m looking for is how I can convince myself to actually follow through. Help please!

um read the labels! Find out exactly is in the food products your’e eating! Most likely if they’re snacks around kids they’re loaded with high fructose corn syrup, highly processed chemicals and junk that are so bad for your body. Read all about the side affects of those things and the effects they have on you long term. Then think again. If you’re dying to eat 12 fresh apples a day, then you’ve got a lesser problem.

That is tough as I struggle with this a lot on weekends. Unfortunately its not like you can keep it out of the house as it isn’t your house, I’m assuming.
The biggest thing that keeps me in check is my food journal. If I know that I have to write it down and it’s going to take me over my limit, it’ll stop me before anything else. It makes me accountable for what I’m eating. Also, for me, it’s the big day that I keep reminding myself of and the fact that I just lost 35 lbs…I don’t want to put it back on!!!
This might not have been much help, but I do understand the problem!

I snack throughout the day so that I make sure I’m never desperately hungry because if I get to that point I know I’ll binge. I also try to remember everything that I’ve accomplished in my weight loss. And I weigh myself on a daily basis. It keeps me accountable!
