I haven’t booked a DJ yet but I am going to start looking for one and don’t know what types of questions to ask. How do I know if he is right for us not having attended one of his events?
Do brides typically go see a DJ perform somewhere before hiring them or do they just go off of references, or what strategy to you use to select the right DJ?

You interview them and see how they mesh with your personality and interests.
Everyone has their own way of picking a dj. Most people have never hired a dj before for any reason so they go by reviews (the vendor reviews section at projectwedding.com for example). Some ask other couples who they hired at a wedding where they loved the dj as a guest. That said, it is considered rude to crash someone else’s wedding to see the dj in action. Alot of djs will have a demo dvd that you can check out.

I didn’t think so either, I just wasn’t sure if anyone does that.
