I have only been to about three weddings in my lifetime and they all were pretty simple (church basement cake and punch). I don’t know how exits of the bride and groom are supposed to work. Does the DJ ask the guests to head out and then the bride and groom leave? This might be a silly question but I don’t know! Advice needed.

We did have people line up for our exit but it really didn’t look too grand since we were carrying out our junk and the lighting was kind of dark. You probably should have someone announce it so that they line up and have whatever you are having thrown in hand.

I’ve never been to any weddings where this happens. It seems like a hassle to me and a lot of guests leave at different times throughout a reception so I imagine by the time you and your groom leave there might not be that many people left for a grand exit.
All of the grand exits I’ve seen have been out of the church right after the ceremony and before the reception. Everyone just hangs outside the church doors until the bride and groom walk through. The ushers usually tell them about this.
