Before I got married I was a bit overweight and I wanted to look good on my wedding day, so I joined a gym and worked out 3 times a week, then after the wedding I decided to cancel my gym membership because I lost all the weight but bought a treadmill to maintain. I was really good at working out at first, still 3 times a week but now I am slacking off, luckily I haven’t gained any of the weight back! What motivates you to work out still, if you have already lost all the weight you want? I want to live a healthy lifestyle, I just find myself lacking motivation nowadays!

Just do it! Especially if you own a treadmill! (I wish I did. I’d never have an excuse to not run even if its only 20 minutes a day). I suggest you set an alarm for certain days. If you schedule it in, you will have a harder time breaking it because its something that you planned for… Force it into a habit and it won’t be an issue. Pretty soon you’ll feel bad when you skip your scheduled workout day.
I am also always looking for new workouts to keep my gym time intersting. Pinterest has been my bestfriend as far as this is concerned. I find it also helps to have a buddy to work out with so that you help hold each other accountable. Does your husband work out at all? Is this something you could do together?

I find motivation when I have someone who will do it with me.

I just have it in my routine, so it’s not a decision. I run 4 days a week, do Body Pump 2 days a week with some stairmaster/elliptical after, and I swim once a week. I almost always do it in the morning, which makes it harder to skip! I sometimes do at-home workouts too, which the Nike Training ap is great for.

But, no, really, I love donuts and haven’t figured out the motivation to exercise yet either. Best wishes to you!

I joined a running group (and actually coach a 5k group on the off days). I’ve found running outside with others with a common goal run is super enjoyable. Even if it’s raining/freezing/hot it is so much more enjoyable hen the treadmill. Before I found this passion I would switch up my routine constantly so I never got burned out or bored.

I book classes at a studio that charges me if I don’t show. 20$ ! That works.lol
also this is dorky but I have a wall calendar in my room and I put a sticker on days I work out. it actually feels good to see a month full of stickers! And it satisfies me to put one up there. You could even work out a reward (pedicure, shopping, dinner out, whatever) for when you have a perfect Month.

MRS-K: I’m kinda in the same boat but what does motivate me is having my iPod stocked up with fresh upbeat current songs.

MRS-K: I second just having it built into my schedule. That said, sometimes it’s hard to get up and go. Looking at pictures of great bodies always helps me. haha.

It motivates me knowing that I will feel so much better after going to the gym. Even on days that I dread going and literally have to drag myself out of bed, there has never been a time that I thought “man, I really wish I would have skipped that workout”. So, I have to remind myself of that. It’s like taking a shower or brushing my teeth… Just one of those things that you have to do.
Some days I will even pull up fitness inspiration and Pinterest and thumb through that for a while. That tends to give me at least enough motivation to get up and move.

Would your husband be willing to work out with you? DH has been on a healthy lifestyle kick this last 6 months, and his weight loss and motivation really help me. Otherwise I would totally slack off. Also, I pay a monthly gym membership, and if I don’t go I feel totally guilty wasting that money.

howtobeawife: Donuts. Donuts and cupcakes. If those could be used as legit motivation, I’d be a frikkin’ fitness model by now.
Sigh… A girl can dream. :*(

MRS-K: I struggle with being motivated to work out on day 6 of my workouts. Yep, I work out 6 out of 7 days of the week. The way I got around this was to have a particular show on Netflix that I can only watch when I work out. This keeps me motivated to see the next episode and work out for 45 each day. It has worked wonderfully! I get to watch a good show as a reward, and it keeps me going back to the treadmill to see what happens on the show next.
