Isn’t the first and third the same?

I don’t pronounce either regularly enough to have a preference, but I’ve heard both about equally and I’m in the midwest.

I knew a set of twins named Angelina and Evangelina.  We called them Angie and Vangie.

Eva is EEE-vuh (this is my aunt’s name). Ava would be choice #1. I don’t really understand what #3 is.. But I don’t really see Eva as a nickname for Evangeline (which is beautiful BTW)

@Nicoley1985: I think the third choice is pronounced like Eh-va vs Ee-va or A-va. I actually know a girl whose name is Evalina and we call her Eva (Eh-va).

Based on Evangeline, I would say it’s pronounced Ee-va.

I say “Ee-vuh” and I think Eva is a natural nickname for Evangeline.

The real question is, do you pronounce Evangeline “evange-line” or “evang-lean”?

That’s too weird– this is a top contender for us. We would do Evangeline and call her Eva, as in Eve – ah.

I don’t really understand what Ava is. I also pronounce #1 and #3 the same way.

Is #1 supposed to be A-vuh like “a is for apple”? Or Ahh-vuh like that song Ahhhh-vuh Marrriaaaaaaaa?  Because the E in Egg is the same as the A for Apple.

Off topic but I think Evi (Eh-vee) is a cute nickname for Evangeline.

    If I see Eva I think Eve-uh.
