It has me baffled when someone asks to see my ring and what comes out there mouth is ‘its big’. Not oh it looks pretty, beautiful.. But it is ‘big’! I’m lost for words when this happens. It kinda bothers me as are they thinking it looks gaudy or something to only say ‘big’!! My ring is 1 carat princess cut on 5.5 ring size with a very dainty thin band. Has anyone else had someone refer their diamond as big? How did you respond?

I usually just say thank you because it makes me uncomfortable. Esp because I don’t think mine is that big (its a little over a carat, like yours).

I don’t have my ring yet. I am similar to you I will be getting a 1.5 amora and I wear a 5.25 . I would try not to let it offend you, just smile and say thankyou! Some people just dont have any sensors of what comes out of their mouth. While I wouldnt really call that offensive, Im sure the way she said it probably didnt set right so I would understand. I really don’t think personally that a 1ct on your size hand would look too guady or big. 🙂

You say ‘thank you’ lol.
Regardless of their meaning thank you is the best thing to say. IF it’s meant in a nice way then thank you means you appreciate their comment. If its meant in a bad way thank you can mean thanks for being a jackass, who cares what you think. 🙂

No one has ever told me my diamond was big except for FI’s friends LOL. He’s so frugal with his money I think they thought he would cheap out on my ring! =P
I just smiled and said Thanks!

Smile and just say “it’s perfect”

I get this a lot. I have a 3 stone ring, its about 2.8 ctw. My finger size is like 6.75ish. I usually say “thanks, he did a great job!”. But in general, I would say people have been super sweet and genuine about my ring. Not too many snarky compliments. But I wanted a kind of big ring – so it doesn’t make me uncomfortable if people notice that that’s what I got lol.

I think one of the first things I told my Fiance after he proposed was “wow its so big!” It was a compliment. It was just bigger than I had expected. If someone says that to me I just smile and say thank you. I assume they mean it in a good way.

I say “thanks! i love it.”
Mine is only a 3/4 carat, but some folks think it’s gigantic (some probably think it’s “small” too tho)

It annoys me when people make cracks about rings they think are too big – those of us with rings on the smaller side get offended if someone comments on it’s size in a negative way, so I’m not sure why some of those same ladies think it is okay to make negative comments towards those who have big rings! But my response would probably depend on the exact comment.

I don’t have my ring yet, but it’s 2.2 carats on a size 5 finger. I’m already prepared for the random off the wall comments about the size and i’m pretty sure it won’t bother me. SO chose it for me and it represents our love and that’s all that matters to me!

Sometimes, comments about my ring size make me uncomfortable – as I suspect woman with smaller stones feel when they have their ring called “cute” . Generally, I just brush it off, when im feeling cheeky (or when someone is being obviously rude) I say “he had to rob so many little old lady’s to save up for it!’

@KatieKitKat: i would say “why thank you!”

I wonder if we have the same ring. mine is a 1ct princess halo on a dainty band on my size 5.25 long gangly finger 🙂 i say that lovingly.
People often say it’ big, oh wowza, or ice rink, or woooooo girl you did good!
I just say thank you, i love it too
or sometimes “that’s what she said” hahah i know, its like i’m a 15 yr old boy 🙂

I just say ‘thank you’, since I have had people say that to me. It makes me feel strange.
