Hello my fellow Bees! I was wondering, I’m trying to lose 80 pounds by next year! I know you’re supposed to eat lots of small meals, but I was wondering how you do this at work? I work at the bank, I’m a teller, so I can’t really be snacking all day. I can keep things in my drawer and drop down every once in a while to munch on something though. My lunch is either at 10 or 11 every day also. Any advice? When/what should I eat? Up to this point, I don’t ever eat breakfast. I just have my lunch at ten or eleven and then I don’t eat all day until I go home.

I recomend eating breakfast before you go to work. Also, don’t you get a break other than lunch? You could have a snack then (like a piece of fruits and some nuts). I’m not sure what time you get home but it sounds like a long time to go without eating.

I definitely recommend eating breakfast as soon as you wake up! It gets your metabolism going. I try eating about every 3 hours (A apple, hand full of almonds). You don’t want your metabolism to slow down and you don’t want your body to go into starvation” mode.

@alohapanda: You should start eating breakfast everyday and snacking during the day on small things and drinking water. If you dont eat for long periods of time your body goes into starvation mode and it holds onto the fat instead of losing it. I used to never eat breakfast but now I cant start my day without it!

Thanks everyone! I actually don’t get any breaks other than my lunch break. I work from 8-4:30, I have my lunch at ten or eleven, and then that’s it until I get off of work! And Then I get home around 5:30. I’m definitely gonna get some apple slices and almonds and small things I can snack on while at my desk.

I don’t really think you have to be snacking all day really. I usually have yogurt and coffee for breakfast around 8, eat lunch around 11:30, then a snack at about 3:00. My snack is usually an orange, or maybe a 100 cal chocolate bar if I’m really having a craving. Then a sensible dinner in the evening, and maybe a 100 cal bag of popcorn or an apple for a snack later. This combined with some moderate exercise helped me lose (and keep off) 50 lbs before my wedding.

Are you allowed to have drinks at work? If so you could make yourself a protein smoothie or protein drink to have on hand as a snack. You could even put it in an opaque bottle so that your employer assumes it’s water if they would frown at having a bright pink smoothie sitting at your station.
