@dulcevida:  I feel your pain. My FI proposed with a ring, but after two weeks or so, we decided to return the setting (but keep the diamond) and have it custom designed. It was hard to go from ring to no ring! My FI bought me a super inexpensive fake ring on Amazon as a placeholder. It helped to have something to wear on that finger 🙂

Idk, sorry I can’t help with an answer but I’ll let you know 1) your not alone an 2) your not crazy haha.

My DH and I went looking together May and fell in love with a setting at a local place but he wasnt ready so he didn’t go back.  Well he went back 3 more times to look at stones and WOULD TELL ME.  But didn’t buy, finally he bought the ring and “hid” it in his gun safe.  I say “hid” because all of a sudden he told me not to go in it and that was never a problem before!

I went NUTS for another 4 weeks of it sitting in my house before he proposed. I was obsessing about rings and playing on pricescope and diamond buying sites. I don’t think it’s possible to put it out of your mind! Just try not to annoy your SO or jeweler!

@dulcevida:  My FI surprised me with my ring so I didn’t have to wait at all. We went the custom route and it took about 2 weeks for our ring to arrive. He obviously kept his cool about it because I had no idea.

My guy designed mine starting in October, slowly went through the process and had my sister approving all the proof designs. Then he had it started mid-December, as they were convinced they could have it done ASAP as it’s a fairly minimal ring. They can into a problem with his metal of choice, and so he had to upgrade to platinum to make the design work, and then they were slow to ship it so after he proposed on December 28th it took another two weeks to get it here. I honestly almost died, and bad weather meant the day it was supposed to get here it got stuck IN MY CITY in the airport at customs, and so I had to wait a whole extra day for it to arrive. His mom was also the one receiving the parcel since somebody had to sign for it and she would be home all day, and when it did arrive he decided to stay and have dinner with them before bringing it to me.

The last two hours of waiting for him to get dinner done and over with were some of the most painful in my whole entire life.

Oh my, mine took ages. First, I ordered the diamond off Brilliant Earth, then I had it shipped to Australia (where my fiance is living at the moment and is originally from), then had a local jeweler there make my setting (we thought it would be cool to have an Aussie setting with an American bought stone lol) and then FI had to ship the ring back to me. So it took the time for Brilliant Earth to ship me my diamond, the 3 weeks for the diamond to get to Australia, the 4 weeks for the jeweler to finish my setting and set the stone, and then the 3 weeks for it to get back to me. I was DYING to get it lol. So all in all it was about 2 1/2 months. And I’d been waiting since August to even get a start on making it. So whew I finally have it but it was a LONG wait.

I totally understand how you feel!  We had mine custom made and I was going out of my MIND!  DH proposed with a ‘placeholder’ ring, so everyone asking to see my ring all the time made me so much more anxious to get the real one.

It will arrive soon enough though!  🙂

@dulcevida:  I just got mine not long ago after waiting for a few months. We ordered it on Novemeber 15th and it got here the Tuesday after Valentine’s Day I think. I knew it wouldn’t be shipped until Valentine’s Day so I was okay for a while, but for the month before I was miserable!!! I checked my email like 30 times a day hoping to get a shipping confirmation saying it shipped early, lol. I have no advice…just wanted to say I felt your pain! Good luck!!!

@dulcevida: This is me right now. I considered making a ‘Waiting support thread for custom ring bees’ last night, hah. I got engaged on Christmas Eve. Deciding what kind of ring we wanted was a journey in itself; we settled on a three stone and it subsequently took us many weeks to locate the right stones (excellent vintage cuts, all the same colour, good clarity, right sizes). Then, once they arrived, it took us another couple of weeks to find a jeweller to set them. We finally dropped the stones off on 4th February, and were told they’d be ready by the end of the month. I pined. I yearned. I waited impatiently. I’ve been expecting the call any day now, and yesterday I got it. 11th March. It sounds pathetic, but I almost cried. Every time my friends see me, they ask where it is. I’m meeting a lot of people next week and want to show it off. Wah.

I’ve just recently joined the obsession club. I never thought I would be this person. It’s exciting and annoying at the same time. A huge part of me cant wait until I get the proposal but a bigger part of me enjoys the tension and the constant thinking of it. You’re not alone.
