I usually do several loads starting on Sunday morning; sometimes throw in a load of towels in the middle of the week.  I like to keep up with it so I don’t end up having ten loads all at once.

For the 4 people in our family I usually do the bulk- apx. 3 loads- on the weekend, and then do one load during the week.  Everyone has their own basket that the clean clothes get put in.  DH has to put his own clothes away- I will put away mine and the kids.

I’ll do a load here and there but I like to tackle the bulk of it in one day. I’ll save towels and bedding for last so I don’t have to worry about it wrinkling if I leave it in the dryer or don’t put it right away.

For the two of us I only do laundry one a week.  I will put in all the loads (FI doesn’t understand why the white towels and sheets can’t be washed with his jeans and red scrubs…).  I will fold and put away my own clothes, and FI his clothes.  I will put the sheets back on the bed, my boy cat loves it and thinks it’s a game to attack the sheets and get made into the bed!

I do laundry every Saturday morning. Its just the two of us so I only have to do 2-3 loads. Laundry really doesn’t bother me, washing dishing is what I hate!!!!

I usually do laundry on the weekend, but the day varies depending on what we’re doing that weekend. Its usually 3-4 loads, 3 loads for our clothes (whites and two dark loads) and then possibly a fourth load for towels and sheets.

I usually take a couple days to fully complete a laundry cycle, but since I break it up into such small manageable pieces it never seems like a big job! When the bin gets full, I bring it downstairs and start a load, usually on a weekday evening. Then put it in the dryer before bed. The next morning, I’ll warm it all back up and then pour the clothes on the bed and fold them. I won’t put them away until after work. So the whole process takes 24 hours to complete, but each piece is super easy (the folding is the worst part) so it’s not a big deal! I plan to keep up a similar strategy when baby arrives, except the loads will be happening a lot more frequently!

I have nearly killed a washing machine with how often I make 1.5 loads into 1 load. I do our laundry on Sunday afternoons or Monday mornings!

1. I don’t separate anything

2. We put our clothes directly in the washer

3. When the washer is full we run it

4. Only towels and sheets go into the hamper

5. Fold and put away…folding is easy but it just gets shoved into a whatever open space there is in the closet.

6. I have 1 MISC. drawer where things that I’m not sure about go.  When I have more time I go through the drawer and figure out what to do with stuff…single glove, mismatched socks, handkerchief, tube top for wrap dress etc.

I despise laundry day as well!! And like you said, it’s more the folding & putting away that bugs me. DH rarely helps, annoying, so it’s all up to me. I only do laundry once a week (only the 2 of us) and I usually do it Sunday.. sometimes I can drag it out til Tuesday or Wednesday.. put the load in th dryer.. then it sits for a while after it’s done, oops gotta dry it again to get the wrinkles out.. let it sit again for a while. It’s a bad habit! I usually only have 3 loads. Darks, lights and towels/undies/socks… I can’t imagine once kids are thrown in the mix, ugh.

We have a dirty clothes bin and a dirty linens bag. If either is full, I do a load. I end up doing laundry every other day or so but its no biggy when its only one (or two if they’re both full) loads and we never run out of clean stuff and its WAY nicer this way! I really enjoy our method.

@PermaStudent:  2 loads – whites and colors – every weekend (can be sat or sunday depending on when we are least busy). It’s worked so far.

FH helps with putting his stuff away.

I hate laundry.

That benig said, I usually get busy with work and too lazy in the evenings and let it sit all week. I’ll end up spending the better part of a Sat or Sun doing it all. I want to change. I really do! I think after this weekend’s laundry gauntlet I’ll start doing one or two mid week. I do however refuse to hang/fold unless I have to. I make my husband do that part.
