I cut with my right hand and eat with my left.  My family is amazed that I do that because I am righty.  Typically they will cut, put down knife, then eat with dominant hand.

I’m a lefty so I always keep my fork in my left and my knife in the right. Why switch back and forth?! So much more work! Plus I use the fork in my left hand to steady whatever I’m cutting.

I’m a lefty and always eat with my left hand and cut with my right. Switching just seems pointless to me.

I switch both fork/knife between both hands. I don’t have an “assigned” utensil to a hand, I just pick up whatever’s closest to a certain hand.

I am right handed so I cut with my right hand.

I just switch my fork back to my right to eat 🙂

I hold the knife in my left and eat with my right. If I’m not actively cutting something, it’s just the fork in the right. No switching

I believe the proper etiquite, in the US, is to hold a fork in one hand, hold knife in the other, cut, put down the knife, switch the fork to the other hand, and eat your bite. Then do this all over again. I do this. I am assuming that I was taught this growing up and it just stuck.

@.twist.: Me too! I had to. Left handed scissors didn’t exist when I was in school.

I also bowl right handed. Odd.

@abbyful: i am brazilian and i eat with my right hand and cut with my left without switching…its actually considered rude to switch your hands like they do here in the US! i actually never even noticed a difference until someone here in the US pointed it out to me…and told me i was strange, awesome. lol

@Mrs.tobe: Yea, they did have left handed scissors when i was in school, but my parents didn’t buy me any, and they sucked SO BAD anyway. LOL.
