I need to tone my abs and trying to figure out the best way to do it. I have several DVDs- which one did you use, or did you do something else entirely? How long and how often do you work abs? What were the results?

@guitargirl: Hey! I am a personal trainer and the first thing to losing weight in your midsection is reassessing your diet. Losing weight is 80% nutrition and 20% exercise. So, knowing that….make sure you eat a good size breakfast and the rest of the day are small meals.
Next, cardio is big when losing it in your midsection. It will definitely shed the fat that is covering your rectus abdominis (abs) and give you that toned look! You just need to make sure that you’re heart rate is goin’. Also, the best core exercise are planks. You can look them up on YouTube 🙂
Good luck, girl!!

I actually just started an exercise regiment and instead of focusing on just one part of my body, I’m trying to shed fat all over by doing cardio work outs. Any kind of running or swimming does the trick for me. And don’t forget eating right is key! If you try to tone before losing fat you may not see a difference because cardio helps eliminate that fat that sits on top of your abdominals. You can also raise your metabolism by eating small healthy snacks throughout the day (say at 8 am, 12 pm, 4 pm and 8 pm) and remember to drink water as it flushes toxins out of your system.

The trainer is right…that being said, I have found pilates to work amazing miracles on my body in record time.
