    That’s a really cute way to propose. Mine is not-so-amazing. FI and I met online and about a year and a half later we went on a cruise to the Bahamas. On the last night of the cruise we were walking along the deck and towards the back of the boat we stopped to look out into the darkness. My FI then took my hand and got down on one knee and took out the ring I had picked out months before that (I didn’t know he had actually bought it!) and proposed to me 🙂 It was nice because it was a private moment between us with no one else around. Just the type of proposal I wanted!

    What a great story! Mine was better then I could have imagined! (And I am one of those girls that told my FI from the start that I had to have a proposal story!)

    It was a lazy Saturday morning and he asked if I wanted to go out to eat, we decided where so we started getting ready (showing, dressing, makeup, hair). Of course, he was ready in about 10 minutes, me on the other hand, I took my time. I was in no big hurry right?

    When I was finally ready I opened the bedroom door and lining the hallway was candles and rose petals and there were little cards spelling out Marry Me? I was so shocked I barely remember walking down the hall to where my FI stood, he got down on one knee..said things I don’t remember and I said yes! We were both shaking the whole time, it was amazing!

    No but it’s a funny story now. I thought he’d be all romantic but he wasn’t overlly romantic, but I know it was just him no fluff or fussiness. I am a tiny bit jealous of all the romantic proposal I see but I know he did what he wanted to do. I still tear up thinking of it too. I suppose that’s what a proposal is supposed to do.

    Here’s my story:

    It was Christmas morning and we were sitting under our Christmas Tree opening gifts. I was helping the dog play with his toys. Greg said aren’t you going to open my gift. I replied after Sledge opens his. He then asked me to move to the brand new couch to open the rest of the gifts. I promptly refused as I was already sitting and I was comfortable. I then grabbed the big box and started unwrapping. there was wrapping paper on top of the box and a big bag from a jewellry store. I was unwraping thinking I needed a new necklace or set of earrings. I opened the bag and ther was a small box. I opened it and stared at it. I actually didn’t realise he was proposing (even staring at the ring). It did click 2 second later and I was bawling. So I made him kneel on the tiles an totally ruined it. I siad to him ask me again. He said it’s done now I can’t ask again. We then were interrupted by his Uncle coming to tell us that breakfast and presents was ready across the road at his Mum’s. Only his sister knew about the proposal. So it was a big surprise for the family.

    I was excited to tell my family at lunch but hid it for a while after I realised Dad had been attacked by a crab. Yes a crab, he had pulled in his crab pot on his kayak and grabbed the crab out and placed it on the snad to rubberband up its claws when he saw his kayak start floating down the canal so he released his hand off the crab which nipped him clean through both thumbs. So when we arrived Dad was putting benadine and dressing his thumbs. I will never forget the day I was proposed to.

    That’s a really cute story!

    @melanieky:  that’s an awesome proposal!

    If you can’t tell by my username, I love birds.  I especially like this guy:

    He’s the bowerbird, and he  builds an archlike structure and decorates it with blue and red objects to attract a mate.  I’d always jokingly ask FI (BF at the time) why he never built me a bower.  Well, a few months ago, we go on a hike where some shrubs created an archway over the trail.  He stopped, pulled blue and red objects out of his backpack (including my blue sapphire ring), placed them on the trail, did a little courtship dance, and then proposed!  I was a blubbering, overjoyed mess!

    @abirdword:  so funny! It’s a bautiful story. I’ve always been facinated by bowerbirds. We had one in our backyard when I was a 8-13 year old.

    Mine proposed when we were about to go to sleep, he was talking about something he wanted me to do and joking that it’s my job as his… when he realized he was going to say wife, he asked me if I wanted my ring. Then I made him get down on one knee and do it right

    @abirdword:  That. Is. So. Cute!!!!!!

    Mine was amazing.  I love to tell it, I know he put a lot of thought and energy into it and I want him to know it all paid off!

    I woke up on the Friday after Valentine’s Day for work around 7am and saw that I had a text from him at 5:30am (he’s a personal trainer so he’s up at 5am everyday) saying “you should probably go to the early gym class today”.  We had discussed the night before that I wanted to try a different class, but it was early in the morning and I usually go after work.  I was annoyed at first (why do you care?!) so I asked him why it mattered and he responded “I have plans after you get off work.  You have to be ready at 6pm, so you can’t go to your usual class.  Go downstairs :)” So I went downstairs and found a letter saying I needed to be dressed cute and ready to go at 6pm sharp tonight, more details later.  That got me excited; we had been dating for almost 5 years at this point and knew we would be getting married someday and I had been thinking he was going to propose for about a year.  But, he’s very romantic and loves to surprise me, so I wrote it off as nothing but a cute little date.

    When I got home from work, sitting on the counter was a bottle of our favorite champagne and another note, this one telling me that I was going on a scavenger hunt to find him.   A driver picked me up at our house (with my best friend in tow!)and I was given notes that had clues to lead me to where my then-BF was.  The clues led us to 6 different places that were meaningful to our relationship and my best friend took pics of me at each place with my notes.  The final spot was the restaurant where we had our first date.  He was outside with a ring box in his hand!  When I got out of the car he got down on one knee and proposed.  It was wonderful!  He then had our families meet us for dinner to celebrate.  Seriously the best night ever!

    Our own secluded area on the lake…. no big. Then this happened.

    I will try to keep this short but I cannot make any promises. For our second anniversary we had decided to go somewhere new. We absolutely love camping and being outdoors but we always go to our typical spots. So we decided to try out somewhere new.

    The first night we were there I was really irritated because my boss had kept calling me and compaining about every little thing that needed to be done by Sunday. My fiance also was irritated too probably because I was ruining the mood and also because his first proposal idea was ruined. (I bake cupcakes and want to open up a bakery and he decided to suprise me and get my favorite cupcakes ever and put the ring on them EXCEPT, they melted on the ride up)

    So the next day we decide to go for a drive and end up finding this secluded area on the lake. It was perfect. However, my fiance did not plan for it to be so perfect so when we got down there he had to make up an excuse to go back to the campsite. So we go back to the campsite so he can get his swimming trunks on and our cooler of food.

    Okay, so finally we’re setting in our little spot, enjoying each other, laughing, playing, swimming. It was amazing. While making our lunches, he starts wandering off and I didn’t think anything of it. He tells me to come over there and I tell him “I’m too lazy, I want to stay here” HAHA so he has to come back and eat, then I finally get up with him to walk over there. He got me up by saying there were tadpoles. I’m easily entertained. Haha.

    Finally, I start walking over there and see a little box on a log and my first thought was “OMG, TYLER! SOMEONE’S GETTING ENGAGED! THEY HAVE IT ALL SET UP!!” Next thing I know, he’s on one knee and asking me to be his wife. I was full of tears and said yes immediately.

    We had talked about getting engaged and married lots before he popped the question, but I always figured that I would know when he was going to do it and didn’t think he could pull it off. Well, he did. It was more than anything I could have ever hoped for.

    Sorry for the rant!<3
