So we’ve finally gotten around to picking a menu from the choices our caterer gave us! What do you think–are there any glaring omissions? Keep in mind that my FI doesn’t eat meat (just fish) so the only meat on there is one hors d’oeuvre I talked him into. And I’m a Marylander so the crab cakes were an obvious choice. Everything during the cocktail hour will be butlered, then there will be a plated salad followed by a family style dinner.

Sundried Tomato & Goat Cheese Tapenade on Crostini
Spanakopita w/ Cucumber Dill Sauce

I love it! I eat meat when going out sometimes but I don’t make it much at home…so I wouldn’t even miss it. I prefer seafood over beef/chicken/pork anyday. And crab cakes are awesome!!

I would eat everything on your menu with pleasure! (minus the blue cheese!) I always pick seafood over meat when at restaurants/special events so I would have no problem. My menu will probably also be heavy on the seafood.

It sounds good, but are you having kids/picky eaters? The apps might be hard for them.

It all sounds *really* good – I don’t think it’s necessary to offer a meat-based entree in addition to the crab cakes and the napoleon. I always wonder when people complain about no meat entree if they actually legitimately eat meat at *every* meal.

I would probably go hungry unless I could eat 15 of the salmon appetizers. I don’t like either of the entree choices, and don’t do lamb or filter feeders/shellfish.

the food looks great to me but I think a lot of people (unless you are aware of otherwise) would question why there is no beef or chicken.

It sounds good to me but not for a picky eater. Many people wont dont like crab cakes or polenta. Also the apps arent good for picky eaters. I love all of that though!

Every time I read these food threads, I am so envious of US bees who live in a country in which food is so comparatively cheap…
Your food is incredible, of course.
The only thing that sometimes surprises me on these threads is when people are so supportive of things like mashed potato bars and junk food, but they critique perfectly nice sounding food like yours.
Suffice to say: I like the sound of your food!

I’d struggle finding things to eat – but I would make it work. I’m not much of a seafood eater, so I’d probably go for the polenta, but even that is a little exotic for me. But hey, that’s your choice.
But I eat like a bird anyway so I’d just try and fill up on some of the hors d’oeuvres.
We’re probably going to offer chicken and beef as our entrees since neither of us likes seafood, which I’m sure will make some people unhappy as well.

I’m picky, so theres literally like 2 or 3 things that I would eat. And I wouldnt eat the main entrees at all.

It sounds delicious- I would eat it all! But I thinks some guests would be unhappy/leave unsatisfied.
Id add either a beef or chicken entree

Your food sounds great. As a general rule I feel that people can deal with ONE meal that they’re not even paying for being slightly out of the ordinary. No need to cook to the lowest common denominator (picky eater wise.) I’m not having any beef OR chicken either! 😀

@Peony526: Personally I would FEAST at your wedding.. but I LOVE me some seafood. I think I would be nervous about not having a chicken or beef option. My family would feel like I didn’t have any “real” entree options if this were my wedding.

I would eat everything except the lambchops. (lambs are too cute for me to eat.) I love seafood and vegetables so this is defintiely my kind of menu. Polenta and crab cakes? YES PLEASE!
