Just curious to learn about new fathers especially, and how a new/first baby changed them if at all. For example, do they wake up often to make sure baby is ok, want to work harder to provide more to the baby, etc. I would like to hear from new moms and not so new moms. Thanks.

@candy11: My baby isn’t born yet (due in January) but DH has definitely been working harder ever since we got pregnant. He works 50-60 hours a week so we can build up a down payment to buy a house since right now we’re just renting.

@candy11: my DH got very strict financially and began planning for the added expense when I was pregnant. He is still financially focused now that our son is here, and since he is working and I’m home on mat leave, he comes home and mostly takes charge of cleaning and organizing the house and getting me what I need. He also loves spending whatever time he gets with the baby is so in love with him, kisses him and plays with him. He was a loving man already though before our son was born, but he was kind of afraid of kids a bit, didn’t think he’d know what to do with a baby, but he has naturally fallen into being a Father so easily, it’s wonderful to watch. He often needs help from me though with diapering or when the baby is fussy but he tries. And he has no instincts at all about how to dress a baby, I had to show him. 🙂

@As_You_Wish: Wow, I wonder if DH would want to work harder or will be so tired and prefer no to. Having a baby does require money, so it makes a lot of sense. Congrats!
@Sunshine09: Sounds amazing that he comes home and does the cleaning and organizing. He must love you both so much. Any little help is a big help!
