Where would you go swimming? Would it be possible to swim and have an outdoor movie? I saw the cutest party that was a swim up movie using one of those giant inflatable movie screens.

I loved swimming when I was that age, and wanted to go every chance I got.  Also I can’t imagine wrangling a bunch of little boys in a movie theater… I know when my brother was that age (he’s 14 now) he was normally quiet and well behaved at the movies when I would take him for a big sister outing, but get him in there with 3 or 4 friends and we’d have an usher shining a flashlight at us every 5 minutes.

I voted for the movie b/c swimming makes kids tired!  They might crash afterwards!

That is such a hard decsion! I know I would love all of it!  If you really cant decide, maybe talk to the parents of the other children about what they would prefer.  Some of them may want to screen GI Joe before hand.  I don’t remember the rating on if off hand, but I know I want to see it too! I also LOVE swimming.  Since they are young I dont think they will be too worn out from it to go shooting.  Airsoft is too much fun to be tired for it, lol.  Whatever you happen to do for him I am sure all the kids will love it.  I mean what little boy woudnt love a party where he gets to shoot at stuff!

I think the movies might be a little challenging with a group of boys, swimming seems a little more managable. Plus I loved to swim as a kid, couldn’t get enough of it! It sounds like a great party tho!

I voted for the swim party, I never had a pool as a kid and loved being invited to pool parties at our town’s park. Who doesn’t love a pool party on a hot day?!

Swim party!  So many kids these days just get plopped in front of a screen, swim parties are much more interactive.  You could have everyone bring their supersoaker or water gun and play GI Joe in the pool.

@ miss mouse.  That’s funny, I voted swim party for the very reason that they’ll be too pooped to stay up all night!  I’ve been both a teacher and a live-in nanny, so I live by the motto, "Tire ’em out!"

Swim party! I used to love them when I was younger (which is interesting since I am not a strong swimmer but apparantly I didn’t care then).

Plus it is a lot less carting the boys around and movies can get EXPENSIVE (popcorn? candy? Nachos? Soda?)

I would say swimming as well…the GI Joe movie looks like it might be for boys a little bit older than him. I know little boys play with GI Joe and stuff…but it seems like the movie looks more harsh than that. And plus like you said…swimming is free and you already have to pay for the other stuff for his birthday. Have fun whatever you do! And Happy Birthday to your son! 🙂

I just reread your post and since its not until the end of August, depending on how the movie does… it could be somewhat crowded. Wouldn’t it suck if all the boys couldn’t sit together?
