It's subtable if a college friend needs a place to crash during homecoming or something but it's not parent-worthy.
It's pretty much the man cave. There's a twin in there with my college comforter and sheets (green and white bamboo print) but is otherwise taken up with DH's desktop and industrial shelving unit. There are a couple certificates and random pictures on the wall. It could use a lot of help.
We're moving next year to a new apartment so I'm not too concerned.
i got super lucky in the fact that my husband and i both had really nice bedroom sets when we got married so my stuff went in the guest room and we use his - its super comfortable and perfect for our parents, friends or siblings that need to stay over (just dont look in the closet! its a wreck - still piled high with wedding items from 8 months ago!) the creepy part is that it looks just like my old bedroom haha the only new item would be sheets - same comforter, some lamps, same decorations and pictures....but no one really knows that but me and my husband...
Mine is not even close to "done". That whole room is basically DH's closet, it has a bed a tv and DH's clothes, its a disaster and we have our first house guests coming next week! AHHHHH! So hopefully I can whip it into shape fast!
Well, the walls are painted and we have pictures up, but there's an inflatable bed where a queen sized bed should be, no decent window treatments, and no upgraded lighting feature. other than that, it's just peachy.
Ours will probably never be done. And I'm ok with it because I want it to become a baby room eventually (not too soon b/c we have a 2 month old now, so in a couple of years) but I still don't want to spend a ton of money on it just to get rid of the stuff later on.
Right now we have a futon and a beach theme. We're in Fl so I figured it made sense for visitors, plus my hubby takes nice pictures of sunsets. We also use the room for storage, so we have our bookshelves in there.
hmm mine isnt done at all..
Spare bed and cupboards... Its become our spare dumping ground room... however, when guests do stay I do make an effort and that room is spotless.
However, when we move into our new house. I swear that room will not become the dumping ground! :P
*fingers crossed*
My son took over my guest bedroom. he now has 2 bedrooms. One with all his stuff and the guest with the big bed and tv.
We live in an apartment so I don't know how "done" it will ever be. Right now it has my old twin bed with college comforter and sheets and our bookshelves. The closet is filled with seasonal clothes and decorations. I tried to find a nice, company worthy bed-in-a-bag but the nicest you'll get is slightly nicer dorm room. Hopefully eventually FI and I will upgrade our bed to a King and put the Queen in the guest room. There are lots of nice sheets for our queen. :)
We have it finished and decorated, and it is my favorite room in the house. I am looking to add more to the walls, but it is always clean and nice in there. No mess. My parents stay there when they visit and they love it. My rule is that we are not allowed to junk up that room and the dresser in there...it's supposed to be the one room in the house that is junk free!
Ours is done, although it needs a few more decorations. We have a lot of family from out of town, so it was one of the first rooms we worked on. We upgraded our bed when we moved, so the guest room has a full size bed in there. I also found a beautiful comforter set on clearance at Target, and it was the first room we painted. I'd love to add a chair or bench and then it will be truely finished.
Funny though...we havent even touched our master bedroom yet! It looks exactly the same as when we moved in.
Ours is done-ish. We have a full-sized bed, a dresser, a nightstand, and a shelving unit. I just decorated it with some of our wedding decorations (don't worry, they are not wedding-ish!). We have our old queen bed in the closet in there--not sure which one we are going to keep, but we need to get rid of one or the other. I'd like to get a new comforter because the one in there is from when I was in college.
@soyjoy222:This is how I want our guest room to be!
UPDATE: So, last week we had a death in the family and my Mom and Aunt came down to go to the visitation. I drove them since I'm more comfortable around this part of the state. Well, it was a long trip up there and back and by the time we got back to my house, it was after 10:30 p.m. Way too late to drive another 2 1/2 hours for my Aunt and MOm to go home. Well, we have no guest room ready so they had to get a hotel room. I felt HORRIBLE! My mom was cool with it and they really slept better than if they had tried to stay with us, but this just motivated me to get my rear in gear and get something done with this room. SO, I got a bedding set at Sam's Club--gorgeous! It's going to make the room look beautiful and then I got a sheet set on sale at Target. This sheet set will belong only to the guest room. Now, all we need to do is get a mattress and for me to get all my crap out of the room. :) I'm going to work on it this week and maybe I'll post some before and after pics. :)
Thanks for all the info about your guest rooms!

Hubby and I have been getting lots of hints from people wanting to stay with us. With the holidays coming up and bad weather, I was thinking how nice would it be to have our guest room 'done'. We are going to get a queen sized bed in there, but I wanted to know how 'done' everyone else had their guest rooms? Are they decorated with a theme? Did you wait until someone was coming to visit? I have some random prints from when I studied in London and I think I'm going to use them to decorate the walls, but we will have to get new bedspread, etc. I think we will pick out a neutral color to paint the walls. That always seems to motiviate me. :) Right now we have a trundle bed in there that will probably move to the other room that will eventually (hopefully soon) become a nursery. I have crap that I stored in there since our house was my house that I lived in 7 years before Hubby and I met, dated, and got married. So, I know I need to get that stuff out, but I'm just wondering what else to I need to do? Do I need to run out and get a bedroom sheet set, side tables, etc.?
If you want to put in pics, that would be great!
