So I’m stuck between two dresses and am bound and determined to make a decision soon. Am I too early, or should I wait a little while still? The wedding’s in fall of 2011 so it isn’t like I’m pressed for time. When did you guys order the dress!!??

You’re not in any rush! I ordered mine 6.5 months before our wedding, and was told I could even think about it for another month max. If you’re anything like me, where your tastes change, or you fluctuate weight-wise, I’d wait. Especially if your heart’s not set on a particular dress, just think what else might be out by this time next year!

I got mine a year before. Only cause that’s what I did first and it took a little bit to find the right one.

I ordered mine in the middle of August and my wedding is June 5th…

Hindsight is 20/20.
Unless you’ve found a dress you are IN LOVE with, I’d wait. It’s amazing how much your vision for your wedding can change during an engagement that long. I bought might a little over a year early and wish I would have waited b/c the details I were looking for at the time became much more popular in the recent seasons (does that make sense?). For example, i was in LOVE with the one-strap but could only find a few different styles that incorporated that element a year ago and now I seem to see TONS!

I just ordered my dress for my August 15, 2010 wedding. Why have your dress hanging in the shop or at your house for months?
Now that you have two dresses in mind, you can look for it at the best price, wait to see either used, or maybe find a new style in 2011 that will really catch your eye.

I would advise waiting. I got mine about a year and a half before the wedding, but part of me wishes I would have waited a little bit. I’m still in love with my dress, but there is definitely a big part of me that’s dying to try on some of the dresses that have came out since I bought it!

I ordered mine about a year ahead of time and then changed my mind about the gown (luckily I was able to get my $ refunded!) I ordered my dream gown in July 2009 and my wedding is in May 2010.

I ordered mine nine months before the wedding. I think you have plenty of time. I was told nine months before is a good time to order a dress, but frankly, my dress came in a little over two months after I ordered it and is just sitting around right now. You could probably order something even later than nine months before, depending on the dress.

I just ordered my dress a couple of weeks ago for my September 11, 2010 wedding.

I have my dress sitting in my parents closet… waiting for my August 14, 2010..
I went looking for dresses and I had no idea if I would order or not.. I ending up buying mine off the rack and I live 4hrs away from the dress shop and there is no way I could garauntee that I would be able to head up again for fittings, so I bought it home with me. There is only ONE bridal store in my city and the choices are limited and if i had to order it from there… 8 months it would be before I would recieve it.

I got mine on Novemer 9, 2009. That is almost 17 months before my wedding. It is a Justin Alexander 8137 and was being discontinued, so I didn’t want to lose out. If I had found that one, I may still be looking. If you find the one, in my opinion, you shoud get it. From what you are saying, I don’t think you have found the one yet.

I got mine a year to the day before we got married 🙂

I ordered my dress on 11/21/09 and it arrived on 1/21/10. And I’m super-glad that I shopped for it that early, since the bridal shop ordered the wrong size. They’re exchanging it at no cost to me, but I probably won’t have my dress until closer to May or June, thanks to the end-of-the-year engagement rush. I’ll still have it fairly early, but I would have been really upset had the wrong-size-dress arrived in July, leaving me without enough time to exchange it.
For your date, the only thing that would concern me is the possibility of you falling in love with another dress after you’ve already purchased one. However, if you know that you can make yourself stop shopping and you intend to remain roughly the same size, I’d go ahead and buy it.

I am ordering mine at the end of April, but I am going to check out more styles (i know I know lol)… I am curious to see what Maggie can do when a sales associate isn’t being rushed (I want to see the waist cinching dang it lol)!!
