How early did you all start planning your wedding? Our wedding date is May 21, 2011 and I feel silly sometimes planning a year in advance because my fiance makes comments like “its a year away” but I am a planner by nature and want to make sure I get what I want and things don’t book up!

I started a year before hand, but got really serious 6 or 7 months before.

Hi date twin!!! We started planning as soon as we got engaged in July, don’t feel silly 🙂 We were able to secure 2009 pricing, so it’s definitely been beneficial!!!

Mine is a month after yours and I’m already planning too. We booked our venue and are investigating caterers, florists, entertainment, and photgraphers, but no real decisions on those yet.

We got engaged last friday…started planning monday. looked at 3 venues this week!

I will be getting married a week after you and we are already looking at venues because May is so popular for weddings. We are most likely going to contract with our venue this week and then just coasting and collecting ideas for a few weeks to enjoy the engagement but still be semi-productive. 🙂

I’m June 2011 and we already booked our big vendors. Saved a ton of money because they were all bumping their rates and we got this season’s prices.

About 9 months before wedding even though we will have been engaged for 1.5 years. Fiance didn’t think it was necessary to plan months ahead of time….MEN. And now I wish I had started as soon as we got engaged.

originally i started planning march 2009, our date was gonna be sept, then i couldn’t put it together fast enough, so then it was gonna be may 2010, and now its june 2011, lol.

I started planning the day we got engaged in March of 2009. I am also a planner by nature, and I like getting a good deal on everything. We have everything reserved, except the caterer. And I have also been working on a lot of DIY. My FI and other people keep saying, “but it is so far away”, but I want to have everything done, so I can just sit back and relax.

@sgwed & OttawaBride2011: yay May 21, 2011!
We got engaged last July too and did some informal planning, creating a guest list, and gathering of ideas up until the end of the year. We started booking stuff shortly after the new year.

Engaged = Green Light = GO, haahaahaa
If you’re ready then START – – like one of the gals said prices in the wedding world climb like no one’s business. You want to secure vendors’ current pricing because by your actualy date it may be almost two times what you’re getting it for. There is NO recession in bride land, haahaahaa

17 months in advance. I never felt silly, but I did pace myself. I did a lot in April and May of last year, but not a lot over the summer etc…
Honestly, don’t feel silly because you have your pick of vendors right now! The closer you get, the more vendors are booked for your date. Happy planning!

Hahaha We aren’t planning on tying the knot until 2012…and I’ve been planning since we got engaged in March! Haha I’m not much of a planner, but I know how important this day is going to be for the both of us. I don’t want my tendancies to procrastinate ruin the possibility of a really beautiful day.

I started 17 months ahead and now with 50 days to go, I am sitting pretty. (Hope I didn’t just jinx myself 🙂 If you know you will feel okay sticking to your early decisions (venue, colors, invites) you are good to go. 17 months out, the first two photographers I contacted were booked.
