I’m totally a pre-planner and like to get everything done as soon as possible. I would really like to get our menu established and everything done and planned with the caterer but my Future Mother-In-Law says I’m doing everything way to early. We are going down to our wedding location at the end of August for a wedding trip. The whole point was to meet with the vendors, get our engagement session done and decide on things like tables, chairs, linens, menu, etc. I don’t want to wait until the last second for these things and realistically with our jobs this is the only time until next summer we can go down for longer than a weekend. But am I doing everything too early? When did ya’ll do your planning?

My wedding planner made out a timeline schedule thats very detailed and spans pretty much the length of our engagement, I was not a fan of spreading it out. I’m more of a go go go kind of person so I wanted a lot done at the beginning. I think whatever you want to get done that the vendors allow is fine.

We had signed with almost all of our vendors once we had a location and date (about a year in advance). Our caterer said that we would discuss menu 3 months out (but we had a tasting 9 months out) I think mainly because they update their menu (and prices) twice a year. So if that’s not an issue, I say pre-plan your heart out and enjoy a lazy final months leading up to your wedding! (I sure am!)
