Most dress shops I have been to don’t need quite that long for the Bridesmaid or Best Man dresses.  I think if you budget for 3-5 months, depending on what designer the dresses are coming from, you should be good.  Your girls will still have time for alterations, if needed.

It’s a shorter order time for bridesmaids, but they’ll still want to leave at least five months to ensure that there’s time for alterations.

It depends on the designer.  I’m probably a bit ahead of schedule, but my girls are ordering this month for our June wedding.  Just another thing to check off the list! 🙂

It depends on how long the bm dress designer takes.  I found a gown for my bm’s that took 3 months to arrive.  I had all the bm orders processed by May 15th and the dresses arrived August 18th.  All the bm’s have plenty of time to get any alterations they need to get….

I think I remember my bridesmaids ordering their dresses about 4 months before.

I agree that it depends on the designer of the dresses.  I’ll be Maid/Matron of Honor in a wedding in 2 weeks, and for that I ordered my David’s Bridal dress in June and picked it up in July.  For my April wedding the girls will be ordering Bill Levkoff dresses in October.

I think if you’re going with David’s Bridal, order 2-3 months in advance (they can arrive in as little as two weeks though). If you’re going with a designer, add a month. Other than that, you really don’t need that much time. Usually, whoever you order from will tell you the timeline you need to follow to get the orders in! Just ask!

3 and a half months…..if you don’t want to rush it… Really depends on designer.

We went with the Dessy/After Six Collection, and they say they will be here by early or mid November, and they ordered them in early/mid August. My wedding is in December.

Luckily, it only takes about a day to alter a Bridesmaid or Best Man dress if you go to the right place.
