My wedding is in August 2010 but I know a lot of people getitng married next summer.  How far in advance do I mail out the save the dates?  I want to be the first on their calendars but I don't want the card lost in the pre-holiday mass of cards.

    Any thoughts???   thanks!!!!

i think anywhere from 6-12 months ahead is fine. do you have a lot of people coming from out of town? i would send them earlier (10-12 months) if you do!!

I say right after the new year...like the 7-10th of January? That way holidays are over, but you're ahead of the summer wedding rush. (:

I agree with the others, I think 8-12 months is good.  Especially if you have some out of towners.  I created a wedding website and put the page address on the save-the-date as well.  That way they could check out the accomodations well in advance.

hmm... i like it.  So after the holidays or before?  August 10th is the date.  i just don't want to be lost in the holiday cards  :)  is a wedding website a must?  how far ahead do you launch that?

I was going to suggest trying to send them well before the holidays or a little bit after. If they are ready to go then maybe the beginning or middle of November or just wait until mid to late January. I sent mine out 6 months before but I know that a lot of people prefer to send them out earlier.

As for the website---we included the address on our save the dates so people can find more information on travel and accomodations. That way everyone coming from out of town can make arrangements well in advance. Once you send the save-the-dates I would say having your website going would be helpful.

i would send them out in november!! early enough that they won't get mixed in with the holiday cards :)

and no, i don't think a website is necessary, i'm not having onE!
