Oh….I’ve booked our engagement photos- and that’s it!

We have our venue narrowed down to two places, and should probably get around to deciding which one we want!  I’m feeling REALLY behind, we have a whole year!

So far we’ve got our eye on a venue and are hoping to go see it on the 25th of this month, are in contact with and all but paid a deposit on a photographer, and I’m going dress shopping this Saturday (which is early, but I’m doing it now because my aunt and grandma and two cousins-who-are-like-sisters are going to be in town for once in a blue moon and I want them all to dress shop with me). I’m also about to start making my “will you be my bridesmaid?” cards, to give to the girls this Saturday before we go dress shopping. I only have three girls who I would want to be BMs, no more, no less, so the choice is very obvious for me which is why I’m not waiting to think about it more before I ask them, as is often suggested.

I also made up our “inspiration board” so we have a general idea of the feel we’re going for, and since we’re doing an iTunes reception I made an empty playlist so that any time we hear a song we want played at the wedding I can drop it onto that playlist, so that when it comes time to start crafting the actual playlist we don’t have to come up with hundreds of songs all at once.

Other than that I’m thinking about and gathering general ideas for papergoods, e-pics, bridesmaid/groomsman apparel, our guest list, food, decor, centerpieces, etc.

I don’t think you’re behind yet! Enjoy just being engaged for a while 🙂

@kcoconut: Hi date twin!  Smile

So far I have booked the venue, the church, the florist, and the photographer.  I have found a dress but haven’t put down the deposit yet (that will be next!)

It’s amazing how far in advance these things book up!

GAH! y’all are so much further along! We’ve booked the church. And…um. Yeah. So, that’s good, right? Oh, and I did accidentally buy my dress already – I really really meant to wait until the end of the summer so as to have plenty of lovely dress-trying-on fun, but I found a stunner of perfect perfection at a trunk show and handed over my (now melty!) credit card in a haze of delight…. That’s actually probably why I’m not further along, the dress changed my whole concept for the wedding, as it’s tres formal, and all my inspiration boards until then were for sweet, beachy, semiformal weddings. oops!!!

Complete:

  • Reception Venue
  • Photographer
  • Lanterns for bridesmaids
  • Wedding earrings
  • Colours selected: purple and green with white, gold and taupe accents.

In Progress:

  • Caterer – our reception venue has only one catering company option but we haven’t confirmed the menu with them yet
  • Videographer – just waiting for FI to view the videos again before giving his final OK
  • Ring Shopping – we’ve found a wedding band that FI likes but mine is proving more difficult
  • Centrepieces – I’ve bought enough craft supplies to make up one of the centrepiece ideas I have in my head, now I just need to do it!

Lots of things to go – so excited!

Booked ceremony and reception site (park and historic courthouse ballroom)

Booked caterer/coordinator and planned complete menu

Booked photographer for e-pics (this fall), bridals (next spring), and day-of pictures

Booked the band (friends of ours)

Bought a dress – comes in next month!!!

Decided that BMs will pick their own knee-length, yellow dresses

Colors: ombre yellow-to-white with accents of cornflower blue and chocolate brown

Designed diy centerpieces (LOTS of candles and white branches and very inexpensive!)

Signed initial contract with rental company (adjustments available as needed)

Completed guest list

Up-and-coming friend stationer is designing invitations/menus/maps/etc

No florist – getting bouquets and bouts from bridesign.com and table petals on special order

Won a diy book from photographer’s giveaway

Won a free e-session with an up-and-coming photographer (not very good… still going ahead with our already-booked session with our wedding photographer)

FH is planning our bar (bringing all alcohol to venue) and looking at suits for GMs

Practicing calligraphy for our invitations

I know I’ve done a lot, but I’ll have a 2-year engagement and I’m a type-A, must-do-it-NOW kind of person. I don’t think you’re behind to only have a venue so far, but there is lots to do, and it’s so fun!
