How soon did everyone:
Wash baby’s clothes:
Pack diaper bag:
Pack hospital bag for mom:
I’m scheduled for a c-section on 12.6 so I’m wondering if I should do these things early or just wait until right before its time for the csection? It’s scheduled for a week before my DD

Haven’t delivered yet, but my Dr advised us to install carseat and get the hospital bag ready at 37 weeks. I also washed the baby clothes, blankets, etc that week.
One piece of advice- if your clothes still have the tags on them, don’t wash everything. Just wash enough to get you through a week. Then, if baby ends up being bigger or smaller than expected you can still exchange or return the clothes you don’t need.

None of the above, since I gave birth at 32 almost 33 weeks along. Everything was bought but nothing was washed, installed, etc. About the only good thing that came about with little boy staying in the NCIU for 4 weeks.

I washed baby’s clothes when we got a lot of them… So far, I’ve done two big baby loads around 28 weeks and 34 weeks.
I’m 36 weeks now, and we’re installing the car seat this weekend.
Baby’s bag will be packed in the next couple weeks– We have her going home outfit, and the hospital provides pretty much everything she’ll need, but we’ll pack stuff anyway.
My bag… well, this weekend (tail end of 36 weeks) I’m going to go shopping for stuff and probably pack it, too.
…I feel like I should confess: My name is Stephanie. I am 36 weeks along, one centimeter dialted, and I have nothing ready for the baby. I just keep thinking it’s so far away…

@Mrs. Gremmlin: Your confession is cute. Good luck with everything, you’ll get it all done!

I’m almost 34 week and so far I have washed all of the baby’s clothing and organized the closet. But that is it. This weekend’s project is to install the car seat bases in both cars, pack the hospital bags, and pack the diaper bag. It may be early, but I’m also already 2cm dilated and 70% effaced, so I feel like I should be prepared just in case….I see it as if I prepare then hopefully that means he won’t come until later!

I’m 36+4 and I’ve washed about half of the babies cloths, I did two loads spread out as I got the cloths in. I am not washing everything in case I need to return some things depending on size of baby. We don’t even have our carseat yet, it was a registry debacle. I think we may go shopping this weekend to get one and maybe we’ll install it. And I actually packed my bag and baby bag last weekend. One of my friends went into labor at 37 weeks sooooo I figured I’d pack 🙂

I had a home birth, so that changes things a bit.
I washed most of the smallest baby clothes at about 34 weeks. I packed a hospital bag at about 36 weeks but never used it. It was just in case something went wrong and I had to go to the hospital.
The car seat was installed when DD was 5 days old and she went out for the first time. Packed the diaper bag just before we went out.

I’m only 28 weeks so I haven’t done any of this yet…but these are great questions =]

I’m early on as compared to most who have replied (30w3d). I have washed clothes as I had enough to do a laundry load.
As far as packing for the hospital, I am planning on getting out a suitcase soon and leaving it on our guest bed. I’ll put things in as I come across them. Baby stuff, I can probably pack fairly soon. I have gotten a few things for me, but a lot of it will happen later (especially as I am still wearing some of the super stretchy clothes I plan on taking).
Car seat…we’ll do that in a few weeks. No concrete plans there, but it would be nice to get it done early. We also still need to trade in my car, so that will also push that back a little bit.
Diaper bag…we haven’t gotten one yet (it’s on our registry…I have two more showers to go), but I will probably pack it as we get items for it.

This might be a silly question, but why do you have to pack a diaper bag? my impression was that the hospital would provide all that kind of stuff while we’re there (diapers, wipes, burp cloths, etc).
i’m almost 37 weeks, and all i have packed for baby is his going home outfit and a swaddle blanket. Even for myself, i just have packed a set of nursing pj’s, a few toiletry items, camera, phone charger. And i’m hoping that this weekend we can install the car seat bases.

I’m 33+3 weeks and I’ve already washed everything I’ve gotten so far. I just wash them as I wash my stuff since I’m washing all of my clothes in the baby safe detergent. I have not however washed the new clothes that people got him a few sizes bigger, just in case he grows quick or slow. I’m leaving the tags on those till we know. Now I must confess that I’m extremely OCD and a planner so I’ve already packed our bags, with the exception of a couple small things missing, but the carseat isn’t installed yet. We plan to do that in a couple weekends. I’m being induced 12/16 but DH, me and dr feel I’ll go even earlier. I have a very detailed packing list that I would be happy to share if you want it.

Way too early for me to do any of this, but I was researching it yesterday and the suggestion I saw was to aim to have most of it done by 35 weeks in case baby comes early. I like the idea of being prepared for that eventuality, but I wonder if I’d really feel motivated to get those things done so (potentially) early?

I did it all way to early. I was probably done by 34 weeks.. I was induced at 42 :). Better safe then sorry? Lol

I’m 29 weeks and I don’t have many baby clothes yet; just 6 sleepers. I’ve washed one NB sleeper and one 0-3m sleeper so far and packed them in the diaper bag. My shower is this Sunday and I’ll probably wash more clothes after that if we’re given a bunch. The carseat was purchased from the registry and we should be getting that on Sunday too. We don’t have a car, so we won’t be installing the carseat base anywhere and for the ride home from the hospital we’ll probably just pop the carseat into the grandparents’ car without a base (it’s allowed). I packed the diaper bag a few weeks ago and it’s good to go. I’ve started making a list of things that I have to pack for my hospital bag and I’ve made 1 purchase so far for that (Depends). I’ll probably have most of it packed around 35w except for clothes that I’m still wearing, but I’ll have a list with the bag of the things that still need to be put in, including things for daddy/birthing partner.
@SouthernSunshine: I’ve love to see your detailed packing list!
