I bought my dress over a year ahead. Maybe too soon but I didn't really have time to think about it.
Five months because that is how long it takes for the dress to be made. I wish I had been able to wait and order it closer to the wedding. I would have ordered something completely different :)
I bought mine in August for our June wedding. It came in in January.
i bought a dress in september for a july wedding but i couldn't stop second guessing. i bought a new dress (THE dress) two weeks ago. Had to have it rushed so I don't recommend doing that just 4 months out!
I'm going dress shopping for the first time in a couple weeks, and my wedding is next February. I'm super excited!!
I ordered mine in mid February. It actually limited my choices a bit since some of the designers would take too long to come in, but the one I chose comes in at the end of May which should give me a little over a month for alterations.
Our wedding is in September 2010 and I bought my dress in August 2009 - right after we got engaged. My dress arrived in January and it's hangin out in my mom's closet :)
I bought my dress in December for our August wedding. But actually when I bought it I didn't know exactly when we were going to set the date for. So I bought it 9 months in advance but I didnt see it for a second time until February. I just had my first dress fitting last weekend!
To have a dress custom made you should contact the seamstress. Sometimes there is a waiting list and sometimes it can be made right away.
I ordered mine last July, and getting married this August...I was really excited to go dress shopping...and just so happen to find a dress that I loved. I started early also becuase I didn't really know what I wanted, and considered having something custom made..which I figured would have to be decided earlier than later.
ordered mine Nov 2009, after searching for 2 months (got engaged Sept 2009) and my wedding is Sept 2010... it comes in 20 days and i CANT WAIT TO SEE HER!
ordered my dress in February and my wedding is in October. I was told that I was cutting it close!
My wedding is next May and I ordered my dress a couple weeks ago. I found the dress I wanted on my first shopping trip out with my mom and friends.
I haven't gotten mine yet, but it will be more than a year in advance when I do.
I bought mine about 6 months before. And it only took three to come in. Going for a fitting in three weeks! Yikes!
we are buying my dress now and my wedding isn't for a year and a half away
i bought my dress last september, but my wedding date changed, so technically i bought it a year and 9 months before, lol. the wedding was supposed to be in a month and a half in may, but it changed!
ordered in Nov for Sept wedding; came in last week, and I'll start fittings in May.
I guess it was about 11 months in advance. It came in early, which is fine because I have to take my bridal pics earlier than I expected.
