I was so tempted to choose the "I just like voting..." :P
We just finished up the majority of our planning and we are about six months out. That seems to be the norm with people I know although there is always that couple that leaves it to the last minute (or plans a year in advance).
We've been batting around ideas, but I'm just now at the point where I'm ready to buy the airline tickets. We keep changing things though, so I'm kind of nervous about it!
We booked our honeymoon 9 months prior. We booked it in February and leaving TOMORROW!
We just booked ours last week - about 5 months out! I was starting to get anxious about it, probably should have gotten it together sooner!
We booked our honeymoon before we started planning our wedding. The reason for this was because we originally wanted to do a destination wedding/honeymoon. But then after we decided to do a local wedding, we kept the original plan as our honeymoon only.
I started researching a year before, then in February/March I noticed the originaly flight I had mentally booked us for was full so we quickly started seriously comparing prices from travel agencies and booked sometime in March- 9 months in advance. I do have to note that we are going during peak travel time...Christmas through New Years.
Hah apparently I fail at this. I just booked ours last weekend and we're about 20-something days out. But we had zero interest in a beach honeymoon, so I guess that helps! Vegas is cheap(ish) in December so that's where we're headed!
We went on our honeymoon six months after the wedding. We planned it a few months out of that. We chose our location based off the best hotel deal we could get from his points earned as a consultant. We took the laid back approach to it.
we booked late! i think we booked in november for a february wedding - the resort we wanted was booked solid but they were able to have a room released for us, we paid for it though! it happened to be valentines week so maybe that had something to do with it.
We had already decided we wanted to go to Yellowstone, and the lodging there fills up VERY far in advance. So we actually made reservations immediately after we booked our venue/date. before we did anything else wedding-related. It was about a year before our wedding will be. But we still haven't booked flights or figured out an exact itinerary.
We literally just planned ours last week, so 3 weeks before the wedding. We were going to plan a 2 week, all-inclusive tropical honeymoon, but decided we'd rather use that money towards the wedding and house renovations. So we found a great deal at a spa/hotel for 2 nights and will head down to the states for a couple nights after that.
We stayed in my parent's Hawaii time share - they gave it to us as a wedding gift as soon as we told them we were engaged, so it was planned pretty much immediately. We bougt plane tickets as soon as we set a date for the wedding.
We did it right at six months. That's the earliest that our travel agent could check on deals and score us some amazing prices!!!
We booked ours 11 months out (as soon as the flights became available). We're doing a fairly unique itinerary over the course of three and a half weeks.
We reserved the hotel like 6 months in advance - it was free to cancel up to 24 hours of the reservation date so we just reserved anything interesting to lock in the price while we made a decision and to give us more flexibility in airfare to different locations. Then we booked the flights 4 months in advance.
We are doing research right now, but hope to put a deposit down soon. Just gotta decide exactly what we want. Going to Disneyworld in Florida and trying to decide the specifics.
Our honeymoon was actually booked before the wedding because we had been planing on eloping and found a great deal..... Family stepped in and demanded a wedding...
we booked about 2 or 3 months out. we had originally planned to wait until we could go somewhere farther away and for a longer amounth of time but then i kinda put my foot down and said after all of this planning we (I!) needed a honeymoon! we were both so glad we did it and were still able to get a decent deal. :]
We knew we wanted to take a cruise, but now we have no time directly after the wedding, so it will have to be at a later date.
But knew that 1.5 years before the wedding date :)
we are doing a weddingmoon and getting married and having our honeymoon in the same place so it has been planned from the very beginning.

FI and I have started to discuss where we would like to go and have begun to roughly price out some trips for our honeymoon.
Just wondering when couples typically plan out their honeymoons.
