I would start now. We starting planning over a year before our honeymoon and then booked in Oct. of last year.

We booked ours a couple month ago ... it depends on if the hotel you desire can book that far in advance ... I know that we called before and it was too early. They didn't even have it available to book

I think it depends how extravagant of a trip you are planning. We started looking at places in January but ultimately only booked in August...but we took our time and researched a bunch of places. By June we decided on Bermuda and then just looked at hotels. Bermuda is not too complex of a trip to plan from Boston, so we could book just a few months out from our wedding. We ended up booking through a travel agent, because she got us the best deal.
