My wedding is September 22 and I haven’t decided on a ceremony venue yet. I need to make a decision within the next week because I have to get the invitation design together to be sent out soon.
I booked a reception venue in a town about 20-30 mins away from where we live, because it’s gorgeous and was a better deal. The church we attend is in our town, but I’m concerned about having our guests drive that far between the ceremony and reception. I’ve tried to call places closer to the reception, but they all want more money than we can afford. The cheapest was $550. (Our church is charging us $100, just as a reference).
So my question, is that too far? Should I keep looking?

no its not too far at all!!! Its really not a big deal, I think you should book it!

I don’t think it’s too far. IMO, I think anything over an hour is too far.

I don’t think that’s too far, as long as you can provide very good directions for guests who don’t have a GPS.

Anything less than 30 minutes is acceptable!

Sent you a PM about this. Overall, 30 minutes is fine, but driving directions are a consideration.

Thanks for the feedback. One of my concerns is that the drive between the ceremony and reception is on a decently curvy highway. And it’s really the only way to get there without taking back country roads. Does this change anything? If I’m just being paranoid, that’s ok too 🙂

I don’t think that’s too bad. The last wedding I attended other than my own included a 30-35 minute drive and I didn’t think twice.

That’s fine. My extended family lives an hour away anyway, and FI’s family lives in another state! So that’s definitely ok.
