I would go ahead and contact her. If she has allowed the pics to be blogged on more than one site and diplayed on Facebook, I can't imagine that she would get bent out of shape by a simple request for information about the dress. She will likely be flattered that you share her good taste in dresses.
I think it's fine, but be casual! Don't tell her you think you're creepy and she won't think you are.
I wouldn't tell her HOW you found her, but I'd say that you saw her dress on Country Chic Wedding Ideas and wanted to know the designer and name.

Help! I need a gut check from other brides. I found a wedding dress that I just LOVE in a photo inspiration shoot on wedding chicks. Ever since I saw it, no other dress has looked quite the same (read: I am completely OB-SESS-ED)! I spent countless hours here, on weddingwire, theknot, google images, etc searching and searching for THE dress - the dress of my dreams - to no avail. The photo shoot doesnt credit the dress. :( But! they did credit the event planner... whose site is defunct and they are now out of business, no contacts listed.
I had given up and was searching for a dressmaker to make the dress for me based on the photos, when I tried one last place - the photographer of the shoot. Maybe they would remember the shoot and be able to put me in contact with someone? I found their site, and their blog which listed the photo shoot in question. No additional info there, but I did find that they were having a "Best shoot of 2011" contest on their Facebook page, where people could vote for their favorite. THE dress was there! AND the model/bride was tagged! I (too my shame) Facebook stalked ALL of her wedding photos (to be fair, they were public, and FB is made for stalkin'!) hoping she mentioned or someone commented about who made her dress. Nothing. I even found her blog and searched that for some mention of her wedding dress. Nope.
My last recourse: reach out to the bride directly to ask her about her dress. This is where I need your help! Is this crazy? Is it too stalker/creepy/weird to randomly contact a complete stranger that you have obviously spent serious time hunting for to ask about the designer/style of their wedding dress?? Do you think that she, as a former bride, would understand this lapse into Bridal Brain craziness and help a fellow soon-to-be bride out?
What would you do if a stranger messaged you on Facebook (or left a comment on your blog - is that less creepy?) asking about your wedding dress?
I definitely need some perspective before I launch into full-blown craziness or make a social media faux pas! Thanks!
Oh, here is the photo shoot that started it all...
