I’m trying to find a venue for my reception, and I’ve found a few but they are an hour away from where most of me and my fiancé’s family live.
With that being said, what do you think is too far to make the drive to the reception?
Thanks for your help!

Not at all, as long as it’s fairly close to the ceremony!

I don’t think an hour is too far to drive for a wedding ceremony and reception. Our venue was two hours away from the majority of our guests.
However, I do think that an hour is too far to drive between the ceremony and reception. I am not clear on if this is what you are asking. Anything pushing 30 minutes or more is just too far In My Humble Opinion.

my ceremony and reception are about 25 min apart… it is your wedding. do what you want. I know its a small inconvienence to have people drive but I havent had anyone complain… and the people who will complain… lets just say I wont mind if they arent there 😉

An hour isn’t bad at all, although weather/driving conditions is something to take into consideration. Since you’re getting married in May, it should be okay. Is it an hour with no traffic?

My ceremony is in the same city as most of my guest, but my reception is 30 minutes away, (closer to where I live) I think your distance is fine!

my ceremony and reception is at the same place, and it is about 1hr 45 minutes from his family and 1hr 15 mins from mine

Depends on if that drive is between the ceremony and reception, that’s a big gap in between for me and going here there and everywhere takes up a lot of time and patience. If you are going that distance for BOTH then I think an hour plus is ok, otherwise 30 mins tops in my opinion

I think 1hr is to far. Have you considered having the ceremony and reception at one location?
