How far is your hospital? And why did you pick that hospital?

I chose mine because it is the only hospital my doctor delivers in. So it was a package deal, and I love my doctor, and the facility is a good one. It is, unfortunately, 30 minutes away, but as a first time mom I feel okay with that timing – I don’t think labor to birth will be so quick that we can’t make it in time. If some emergency does happen and I didn’t have time to get to my chosen hospital, there’s another one about 10 minutes away I could use as an alternative.

I chose my Hospital because I lived directly next to it when I got pregnant, and that’s where my Doctor delivers.  We just moved, so now we’re about 20-25 minutes away, but worth it to keep the same Doctor.

Mine is about an hour away by subway, but I really wanted to pick a hospital with a great labor & delivery unit and a great NICU just in case, and the hospital we’re delivering at has a great reputation for all of those.

I’m not pregnant, but I’ve been wondering about my current Doctor and where she delivers because it’s 30 mins away. Sounds like that’s not too bad. I really love my doctor and the hospital is very nice. When we are ready to TTC I think I’ll be sticking with them.

My hospital is less than 10 minutes away.  Picked it because it’s close to my house and I didn’t have to change my OBGYN.

I wouldn’t worry too much about going into labor while at work. Chances are labor won’t progress that quickly. Women can be in early labor for hours (even days!), and most hopsitals don’t even want to you to come in until your having one minutes contractions, 5 minutes apart, for an hour. That can take awhile to get to!

I didn’t have much of a choice, my doctors only deliver at one hospital. Luckily that hospital fit my needs and is only about 10 minutes from my house. I had a scheduled cesarean, though, so I didn’t have to worry about not making it to hospital!

Not even TTC yet, but my hospital is 20-30 minutes away depending on traffic/road conditions. They have a NICU and are associated with Mayo Clinic so I feel pretty confident with that choice. If there was an emergency situation there are 2 hospitals within 2 minutes of my house though.

Mine is 20-35 minutes away, depending on traffic. We chose that hospital because we love our doctor and he is head of that particular hospital. Also, the facilities are very nice. I have known many women who have given birth there, and they had good experiences.
