Hive – what’s your opinion? Is 6 weeks out from your RSVP deadline too soon to send out invites? 4-5 weeks? What are your thoughts?
My RSVP date is a month before our actual wedding because we have a small B-List if people we’d like to send invites too. It seems far out but I’d rather have all my ducks in a row than be panicking 2 weeks before the wedding and calling people to see if they’re coming when I’m going to be swamped other wedding worries. I’ve been debating when to drop my invites in the mail.

Our RSVP date is Sept 10th (3 weeks prior to wedding), and we are mailing our invites August 6th (8 weeks til wedding, and next week…eeek). I think 3-4 weeks is ample time to get responses.

I would say 6 weeks is too early. People will likely say “oh I have so much time to get back to them and I don’t know my schedule yet so I’ll wait on that…” and then it ends up in a pile on their desk never to be seen again. I would put them in the mail 4 weeks before the RSVP date.

We sent our invites 12 weeks before the wedding with an RSVP date of 1 month before the wedding. It was long distance for a lot of the guests (80%+) so we wanted to give them longer to buy plane tickets when it is cheaper, make hotel reservations, etc (our hotel blocks expired a month before the wedding). I think it is totally a judgement call based on the specific wedding, how many are out of town, etc. If everyone was in our hometown, we would have sent them later.
