Hey bees, how are you doing? here i need a big favor for suggestions from some profesionals or anyone who has done this before: how hard is it to alter this dress from label size 12 all the way down to 4? I am street size 0/2 and fit well on size 4 for most wedding gowns. I fell in love with this dress but the only size i can get is label size 12. it is Pronovias and the measurement is around 38/30/40 in. my measurements are 35/26/35. will the alteration ruin the shape and form of the dress? it is an emergency cuz i have to decide soon! I really appreciate it for any suggestion!

Typically dresses can be altered down 2 sizes or so and still retain their look. I don’t think going from a 12 to 4 would work, especially with the intricate cording/lace detail all over the bodice.

@Yvonnethetiny: My seamstress told me 2-4 sizes can work, after 4 you lose the integrity of how it looks.

I have to agree with the previous poster. Due to all the detail I dont think it will be possible.

I would not recommend it. I am a tailoring/bespoke clothing junkie and I can tell you from experience that you will run into serious fit problems. Have any discussed with any tailors? Did any say they could take this on?
