I felt like the end of the episode was so rushed!

Thought it was freaking awful. Why did I just have to sit through two seasons about barney and robin if they were going to end it in 15 minutes? Also they made Ted this love lost person who was always so down and out and he finally gets his girl…and she dies young and he goes back to “aunt robin”. I guess they made me glad its over?

Ugh, even though I had an inkling that the writers would go that route….I thought it was stupid. The show was basically telling us how Robyn and Ted were not meant to be only for….ugh.

Never was an avid watcher but I know most of the plot. Haven’t seen the finale tho.  Kinda don’t want to now that I’m reading this stuff.

I don’t mind it, but don’t love it. I never liked Barney and Robin together, and I think that’s just how life is sometimes-you spend so much time waiting and hoping just to have what you want snatched away from you in the end. And then, you find happiness again somehow.

KatiePi:  I had a feeling that they were going to have the mother die and he would end up with Robin. I thought it was sadly predictable.

I couldn’t believe Tracy died… I felt like that part was rushed and they didn’t really process it.  It made the whole thing seem rushed.

The story line about growing up/apart and having babies was bittersweet because it feels like I/my friends are on the cusp of that now… the babies are starting!  Definitely felt close to home.

I LOVED IT!!! I know some people are posting that it was sad the way the mom died and it was, but I always wanted Ted and Robin to be together from the beginning. I LOVE This show and loved the ending.

The part that stinks is I wish they introduced Tracy earlier. She seems like such a sweet character and quirky and funny. Sucks that they didn’t form her earlier.

I also thought it was weird how they had just laid it on us (the audience) that Tracy died, and then the kids are immediately like “Come on Dad, it’s been 6 years…you love Aunt Robin!”…jeeze

I’m SO glad someone started a thread about this!

I did NOT watch the show for the majority of its nine year run. I had seen a few episodes over the years when other people were watching it, but I didn’t follow it. However, I was intrigued by the concept of the show — how Ted meets the mother of his children. When I learned about ten days ago that the show would be ending its run, I literally became obsessed with watching as many pertinent episodes as I could so that I would be able to enjoy the ending. I also read a ton of information about the show online so that I’d understand the back story.

Everything but the Barney-Robin divorce and Barney’s baby was heavily predicted, including the mother’s name and her death, as well as the Ted-Robin re-connection at the end.  However, because my primary interest in the show was the relationship that I hoped to see blossom between Ted and The Mother, from that perspective, I was very disappointed.

If I try to put myself into the mindset of someone who watched Ted and Robin’s relationship for nine years, I can see why so many people would enjoy that ending, and it definitely works with the show.  However, where I think the creators made their mistake was in casting someone as beautiful, captivating, and compelling as Cristin Milioti to play the role of The Mother, and in allowing the audience to really get to know and fall in love with her character for the entire ninth season.  The build up was enormous, and, as I said, the payoff in the audience being able to enjoy that relationship just wasn’t really there at the end.
