I got married last month in NYC (after a 5 1/2 month engagement) without spending an obscene amount of money. I wrote in great detail exactly how I did it and thought the info might be helpful to some of you brides-to-be out there. Here’s the link:

that’s awesome! this was exactly the kind of post i had been looking for when i originally was trying to plan my wedding in nyc. alas, we moved our plans across the country and i gave up on my dreams of spending $15K. kudos to you–it looks like it was a fabulous day! i hope this gives lots of inspiration and ideas to other brides in nyc who don’t feel like spending a ton.

This looks just perfect- I will be getting married in the park as well! We wanted to do the Conservatory Gardens, but we were worried about rain, so we found a place where there is a pavillion to stand under if it rains. Right outside of Belvedere Castle. There are only going to be 30ish guests at our wedding, and the permit was only $25! I feel like Central Park is the best kept secret wedding location in NYC. Beautiful job, you wedding looked stunning!

Thanks, everyone! I’m glad people are finding this info helpful.
Bwaychick, the Belvedere castle is a lovely spot for a small wedding! You could even get cute, colorful parasols if it looks like it’ll rain. There’s something magicaly about a Central Park wedding — there’s a real energy in the park that the guests (and you!) will tap into. Have fun!
