How in the world to you pass your time waiting on your dress to arrive?

Me? It's a real sick addiction. I look at the dress almost (sad to say) everyday and wonder if I made the "right" decision. Is this a weirdo thing to do? I anticipate it's arrival, as it is to come in anyday now. I don't want to be "one of the brides"...I called the shop only once, as they told me back in October that it would arrive on the 15th of March, I called yesterday on the 17th (I swear...I called only once) They think it's in customs or something? *NERVOUSNESS* I wonder if my dress is smuggling in a little kid or something...Why in g-d's name is it in Customs? Maybe my nerves have something to do with ordering my dress, before trying it on...WOW. Maybe that wasn't the smartest idea, but gosh darn it...I waited long enough! Give me my Milana!

your dress is in customs because it was made overseas and the garment has to be checked against the exportors invoice to be sure it is what they say it is and made out of what it says its made out of. if it makes you feel any better i'm in my friends wedding in July. we ordered our BM dresses last August the Shop told us they'd be here at christmas and they just came in.

Your dress is beautiful by the way

    ***UPDATE***

So...the bridal salon called today to let me know that my dress came in (March 23rd) so they stated that I can come in by appointment and try it on. With that being said...they scheduled me in May.  May 10th to be exact. So I questioned why I couldn't come in and see it prior, they said that there was a "time frame" as to what to do...the 2nd fitting would be in June. (my wedding date is in July) What pisses me off to no extent was that I purchased the dress, never tried it on (I seen it on Maggie Sottero website, fell in love, and took a chance, and ordered it through the salon)

I hung up, a little perplexed.

I then called back asking if I could come in before May, atleast so I could see it. Heaven knows...I might even hate it. They said "NO, this time of year is a busy season for us, it's prom season and a bunch of weddings are being done" So...I hung up again. (as you can tell I hate arguing...) My co-worker heard the conversation and felt sorry for me, and explaned that I have a right to my dress...I paid for it in full. It's MINE. She called and pretended to be my mother...needless to say, I go in next Monday to see it, touch it, smell it, hopefully LOVE IT, and try it on, finally. What are your thoughts? (I know that I don't have balls, so you can leave that out...lol)

WISH ME LUCK!!!   Pics to come...

Wow - they gave you that hard of a time for just coming in and seeing your dress?  Perhaps when you go in on Monday, you should just take your dress with you (if you've paid for it already!).  Is there somewhere else you can have fittings/alterations done?  I would just be frusterated if that is how they are treating you!  What if you have difficulties getting it fit properly?

    Pretty dress btw :)

Your dress is gorgeous!  How nice of your co-worker to help you out with the bridal shop.  BTW, your co-worker is right, you do have a right to see your dress.  Also, you want to make sure that they ordered the right one while there is time to correct any mistakes.

That is awesome that your dress came in. I second the idea that you take the dress with you when you go. They shouldn't tell you when to go. How do they know if you have bridal pictures to take before hand and you need it before then.

Wow.  That seems really odd to me.  My salon told me to come in anytime I wanted, to try on shoes, jewelry, or whatever if I wanted before my fittings!

Do you plan to get it altered there?  Maybe you can just go pick it up...have you paid for it in full?

yeah. seriously, take the dress with you and forget about them. there are plenty of great seamstress's out there that would be happy to do any alterations you need and who aren't too "busy with prom season." FORGET PROM, this is your wedding and that is YOUR dress!

    congrats, anyhow. :)

WOW!!!! I cant believe that the bridal salon treated you that way. That stuff makes me so mad. Mean people trying to taint our wedding experiences. lol. I have had my share of those. The place I bought my dress is awesome though and I hope they dont pull that crap when my dress comes in. I would say go get your dress and tell them where to go because that is un-called for. I would also talk to the manager. Everybody knows that us anxious brides want to see the dress right away. Especially if you never got to try it on. Plus, it is not the bridal salons place to give you a timeline for your wedding!!!!! Give me a break. Bride comes before Prom Queen....thats just my opinion.
