Hey date twin! I wouldn't go with any kind of master cleanse even with this far before your wedding. It might upset your stomach and it can take a long time to get regulated again. I think the best thing to do is count calories, eat lots of low cal, high fiber foods, and drink water with lemon juice. I've never tried a body wrap, but one of my friends did it the week before her wedding. I'm counting calories and doing Dance Off the Inches!, Wii Dance, and the Shake Weight!
Yeah, the master cleanse didn't sound the least bit healthy...but I feel desparate to get in my dress. I started the south beach diet a week ago and have lost 8 pounds already (with working out 2 times a day, 5 days a week) so that is encouraging.
You sound like you are keeping the weight off in a healthy way though--way to go :) a few weeks ago I thought about joining weight watchers online but I think I need something more effective.
I don't really care about the number on the scale because I have been 145 and toned, and 145 and chubby...I just care about losing the inches and feeling confident!
I will definitely try Dance off the Inches, as for the shake weight--how does that work? I'm immature enough to laugh everytime the commercial comes on but I'm sure it does tone better than just lifting dumbbells.
Thanks for the advice date twin! I hope the planning is going smoothly! We are so CLOSE!
I just started doing turbo fire!! Its hard but great. My one bridesmaid and I both bought our dresses a size too small so we are eachothers support
hmm, I will look that up! Thanks! I'm training running for a half marathon, and just started the biggest loser work out dvd's...which actually kicked my butt. But I definitely want to mix it up so I don't get bored too quickly.
the same thing just happened to me, so I feel your pain. I am trying to take out all sweets and go low-carb. My biggest problem is I work during the day, and I am at school 3 nights a week so I only have been working out 2-3 times a week. I don't know that I have seen any results. I have major weight issues so I have only told a few people and praying things come together.
Good luck, I'm sorry I can't offer you any better advise.
My SO just got back into working out, so we're doing it together.
MWF a small home workout with pushups, pullups, situps (i'm hoping to convince him to add some tricep dips).
TT a short run--turns out with the move we got WAY out of shape! Last summer I ran a half marathon, and last Thursday we ran 2 miles and was KILLER.
weekends--I may do some longer runs, he will take those as his rest day until we buy bikes and the weather gets warmer. :)
He has 10 or so pounds to go, I have 5 (ish).
I bought a new workout DVD from Amazon every month or so. It's cheaper than a gym membership and it keeps things new and interesting. Some of my faves are Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred and anything with Jackie Warner. They both use circut training so the time just flys by!
We bought an ellipitcal machine for Christmas got it early part of January. Since the day we recieved it I have worked on it almost every day. In fact yesterday was the most mileage I put on that thing. 5 miles which is an accomplishment for me.
My mom and I did a body wrap last year for my birthday and I have to say that it surprisingly worked! I lost like 20 inches all over my body. The only thing is, it can get pretty tight in there, so if you have any clausterphobic tendencies, I wouldnt reccomend it.
I plan on working out at the gym 3 days a week (30mins. min). And trying to incorporate at least 10mins of cardio everyday by being active in the house or walking up and down the stairs, ect..
@carriejuly: 2-3 times a week is better than nothing though and that is what I'm doing for my diet too. My sister did the HCG diet (the hormone drops or something) and lost 35 pounds in about 8-10 weeks but I just think it sounds too risky and unhealthy + she is skinny but doesn't look toned
@HoneyBear: Oh wow! I'm thinking I should do it a couple days before the wedding since it will probably be water weight. Thanks for letting me know!
@Sassygrn: another date twin! I use to do the elliptical for 60 minutes a day and I lost about 15 pounds in 8 weeks. But I'm really trying to incorporate weights this time around.
If only I just stayed toned after the last time I lost weight, I wouldn't be going through this!
I'm actually pretty impressed with the south beach diet though, I've never totally cut out sugar and flour (I've done whole grains + sugar in moderation before) but I feel so much better & I haven't been hungry or counting down the hours for dinner.
I'd suggest weight watchers - you can do it online and track your eating. I'm not a fan of cutting out foods, so it's a good way to be able to eat all foods in proportion. And this is just my opinion, but 3-4 hour workouts daily does not sound healthy or fun. I think 1-1.5 hours x 5 days a week is more than effective. Just my 2 cents - good luck
My co-worker is always on some kind of crazy diet. It takes a lot of discipline. Right now she is on a no sugar diet.... I think it lasts for 8 weeks, off for 3 weeks, then 8 weeks again. This is particularly hard because sugar is in almost everything!
For me, I'm just going to a bunch of fun classes at my gym. Zumba is my favorite! I also take a strength conditioning class and a cardio/strength combined class. I have a personal trainer that I see every other week (expensive). I'm not aiming to really lose weight though. I may lose inches, which is what you need, but will probably stay the same weight if not gain more.
I am doing the Flirty Girl Fitness DVDs about three days a week. =) It's a good and fun workout and helps you to feel somewhat sexy while doing it! (I don't feel so gross and sweaty afterwards lol)
My workouts are kind of girly: a 40 minute jog in the morning, 20 min. pilates after that, then a long walk in the afternoon, and a high intensity tredmil/weight lifting session at night. I can only do this right now because I'm not working...but my friend who is a personal trainer said I need to work out 4-6 hours a day to reach my goals...
flirty girl fitness sounds fun haha, I will get my maid of honor to do it with me!
I was working out with a personal trainer for about a year before the wedding. I was in the best shape I've ever been in.
My FI just bought me the Zumba dance dvd's so I am hoping this will help me lose a little, then I can use the P90X when I get a little more in shape =)
I've been doing Insanity and I really love how I can just workout at home, no makeup, rain or shine. Insanity is very cardio intense so if you are already working out twice a day then it should be fine. The workouts only last like 30-45 minutes for each one and I normally don't sweat a lot but by the end of the workout I'm seriously drenched in sweat!! It feels awesome!!
Weight watchers online really helped me for a while but it got super hard trying to count everything especially all the yummy Vietnamese food I love but if you can keep on top of it, its definitely a good one. Also if you have any type of android phone they have apps, I use MyFitness and it's like a food diary, it really helps keep track of what you eat everyday, you'd be suprised how many calories little things add up to be.
Good Luck!!!
@Heatherloveskenny, @marissa227 & @Sassygrn: Hey date twins!
I've been doing yoga along with drinking more water, passing on seconds and cutting alcohol as much as possible during the week (:(). As we get closer, I'm going to hop on our elliptical more frequently and start lifting hand weights. Way to chicken to do Insanity or P90x. Really admire those of you who can do it.
I am doing the zumba DVD's and watching what I eat. Awhile ago I cut bread from my diet for health reasons, I was getting really bad stomach aches, and I lost a tonne of weight.
Now I eat bread a bit but if I want to lose weight I just cut it out completely, I also cut out potatoes, rice etc don't know if it works for anyone but I would def recommend trying it!
I love all of the advice. You all are great. Everything helps, and keeps me motivated :)
On another thread another Bee suggested the Virtual Trainer on Shape.com. I've been using it religiously for a little over a week, and I've seen really good results already. I log every thing--and I mean EVERY thing--I eat. I've also been tracking my workouts. I was surprized by how much more I had been eating than I thought!!
I'm running competitive 5ks every 2 weeks. I can't make myself go to the gym and this seems to be the only way I can make myself workout. I've got one tomorrow :)

I work out at the gym everyday for an hour and a half. Im 124 pounds and need to lose about 5 pounds and everything else is just toning! Im seeing a difference already and Ive only been going for 5 days now haha. So I know by next year, Ill be looking hott!! :P

When I bought my dress last summer, the size I tried on was way too big but looked amazing. I ordered one size smaller and now that I have it at home, it is NOT fitting how I thought it would!
It is a corset back but the button on the flap is about 2 inches away from buttoning...I also thought maybe because those handy little consultants weren't helping me in the gown at my home, that I did something wrong...probably not, but still...how is everyone losing weight to look their best on their wedding day? It's such a huge stress right now.
I'm thinking about doing a lean protien, all veggie, lots of water diet but its really difficult. Right now, I'm working out about twice a day (3-4 hours) but I need some high intensity work outs.
Also, my make-up and hair stylist told me to do the "master cleanse" diet (that nasty cayanne pepper, lemon juice and maple syrup drink) a few weeks before the wedding, and I was planning on getting a body wrap just to see how that works (a few days before the big day)...
Any ideas or motivation?!?
Thanks bee's :)
